hmm. that's exactly what russia did to start the invasion. i remember people on the web still arguing it's just an exercise and russia would never attack, when the first russian soldiers had already been spotted crossing into Ukrainian territory.

Iirc Lukashenko was almost ousted before that happened and Putin had to save his ass, which theoretically (and what most articles said) is why Belarus didn't fully participate in the invasion.
I feel that Lukashenko has been trying to stall any participation as he knows he's on thin ice and that if the army stops supporting him, there won't be a second chance.
But maybe I'm wrong.
With Trump coming back in, and the collapse of America I'm sure Russia is pressuring him to do it now or else.
