Shipping routes to Europe from China can/want to use Russian Arctic waters. Shipping routes to eastern North America would use Canadian waters.

NATO controlled bases in Greenland welcome more US investment/resources. Offensive capability on populated Russia is closest from European NATO/US bases. Therefore, only national security interest for US in Greenland is to abandon NATO and directly threaten Europe.

Time for NATO to build a base way up around Baffin Island
