This is the reality of the current effect of the Executive orders regarding passports for trans people in the US. Because of the way things are implemented they are getting stuck in a no-mans land where they cannot have any travel papers at all. If you know a place to share this please do.

I don't suppose you can share in a form that isn't TikTok?

That is terrifying. I was expecting bullshit which is why I got my passport last year after Trump was elected, but this is much worse than I feared.

No audio right now so I can’t watch the video, but if she hasn’t already done so please pass on to your friend that the ACLU is asking people who have experienced discrimination due to the new executive orders to contact them. Link here.

From what I've heard, his EOs have caused massive confusion and stuff is getting stopped because government workers aren't sure what the new rules actually are. I would tell your friend to try again in a few months.

stuff getting stopped because of confusion is one thing

threatening to arrest someone because they asked why they aren't allowed to get a passport issued to them is another

I don't think it was just asking. They say they stayed until they were threatened with arrest. I think it was a situation where the office staff had nothing else they could do for them. In which case the applicant is told they have to leave, or be trespassed by police officers. It's not a threat for just asking a question, it's a threat for disrupting the office after all the answers available have been given. At least that's how it's supposed to be.

Which is why I suggest going back in a few months when they might have better guidance and thus, better answers. I do sympathize but the majority of civil servants aren't trying to be mean or cruel. They want to approve people.

I have TikTok blocked entirely via Pi-hole. Can we get a screenshot or summary?

Bullet points

  • She had her legal gender changed to female
  • She tried to get a password
  • They told her they'd only give it to her if it said male on it
  • She said that's fine
  • They walked that back and said she doesn't get any passport
  • She asked why
  • They threatened to arrest her

Important note is that she was renewing her passport, and they refused to give her documents back.

This is, indeed, extremely important. I don't know why I didn't include it.

Much obliged.

I'd like to see this but won't make a TikTok account.

I can't watch since I don't have an account. Can someone recap?
