I’m not surprised with Target, they’ve caved repeatedly over the years. This isn’t new.

Probably some other stuff
DEI initiatives were always about making profits. It was never about doing the right thing.
Just recently though. They used to be support of equity, inclusion and queer rights before it became super popular. I think I read they supported TC Pride for 15 years before this year. So they are exactly Walmart on the Rainbow Washing bandwagon.
You can buy most of the things from target, from Costco
I am planning on using Costco as my Target replacement. We will have to go a few more stores now but should be worth it.
This is not even close to being true, unless you're speaking very generally. Milk, soda, meat, bread. Target has 5-10 times more options for each item than Costco does.
"most"
And if Costco has them at all, having multiple of them is moving the goalposts.
And ya know what really matters? Costco maintains their dei stance and pays a more fair wage.
So don't defend a shit company with gotchas
I'm not defending Target and that wasn't a "gotcha." I recommend people boycott Target if they can, but to say that "~~everything~~" "most of the things" you can buy at Target is available at Costco just isn't true. ~~You can make your point without hyperbole.~~
I didn't say "everything", I said "most"...don't misquote me. There's no edit on that comment so don't act like I said something I didn't.
That's my mistake, and a significant misquote. I'm sorry. That said, just because I disagree with your argument about Costco being an equal alternative, that doesn't mean I'm defending Target's DEI rollback, or defending Target as a company. I'm actually writing this from the Costco parking lot, but Costco isn't accessible for some people because of transportation, mobility, or dietary needs.
Thanks for clarifying the mis quote. I appreciate it.
There's not a single thing on Earth anyone would ever need that is exclusively sold at Target. I find the "if they can" bit ridiculous.
I very much want an app where I can track companies and all their parents/child companies that I'm meant to avoid. Walmart was off years ago, Kellogg after the whole hiring outside the unions fiasco, Target and all the other 'DEI is bad because hail Trump' shops...
Anyone know an aggregate data source where one could keep track of these things?
If you don’t personally know the person who made it, odds are the corporation who made it has done bad stuff.
I support this, but I'm confused as to why Target in specific. Didn't basically every major retailer do this?
My guess is because they used to claim to be more queer-friendly than most, and they're based in Minneapolis and have their name on a ton of stuff around the city.
They are local and we're more supportive. Not everyone did but a lot did at once. I don't shop at Walmart and I doubt they will listen. Target is headquartered here and lots of local people work there. Easier to get attention
Good luck getting anyone to do anything other than complain about it right before they walk right in and hand them more money.
