And after he recieved the Ten Commandments, he tore off his shirt, pointed to the crowd and told the non believers that they would have his wrath at WrestleMania IV

Yeah, I was not familiar with the “brother” speech pattern and by the time I figured it out I had 20 upvotes so I was like, fuck it. I’m leaving it up.

Who is ... Moses

Hulk Hogan is a racist piece of shit (and a union buster) and does not deserve to be immortalized in meme form

[–] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 34 points 2 years ago

Caught on tape dropping the hard n over daughter dating a black man. Fuck that asshole.

https://www.si.com/wrestling/2018/05/03/hulk-hogan-boys-girls-club-speech-racist-sex-tape-speech-video

Three years later, he had this to say...

“With this foundation, I can be accountable. I can learn from my mistakes and I can move forward,” Hogan said. “And what’s so cool now is working with the Boys Club, I have a chance to help these kids not make the mistake I made, being at the wrong place at the wrong time or saying the wrong words.”

No words on equality, changing his attitudes, nope just regrets being caught. Jfc. Prick.

Meme is still funny

[–] JudahBenHur@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

i dont think a meme is going to be the make/break with one of the most famous perosnas in all of modern media history dude. youre better off prostesting his torn yellow shirt being in a glass case at your local hard rock cafe

[–] PrinceWith999Enemies@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

one of the most famous personas in all of modern media history

You might need to expand your horizons. On the historical scale he ranks just above Dog the Bounty Hunter and below Tiger King.

[–] BigNote@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

It probably depends on your age. To people my age (gen x) he's definitely more famous than either of those guys. He was all over the place in the 80s.

[–] PrinceWith999Enemies@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I am also Gen X, and the fact that I remember Sgt Slaughter and the Iron Sheik doesn’t make them historically relevant. My point is that none of them are. John Glenn. JFK. Barack Obama. Donald Fucking Trump. Maggie Thatcher. Muhammad Ali. Mike Tyson. Michael Jordan. Madonna. Bowie. Elton. Michael Jackson.

Those are the kinds of people who are historical figures. Hulk Hogan will be forgotten. He’s nowhere in the league of those kinds of people. He’s at best a D-list celebrity whose next headline will probably be his obit, after which no one other than fans of the 1980s wwf will remember him, and there’s going to be fewer of them every year.

[–] BigNote@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Right, no doubt, but still totally irrelevant to the fact that if you're of a certain age, Hulk Hogan is way more famous than the Tiger King guy and Dog The Bounty Hunter.

I'm not here to defend his historical significance; that's something you brought in and has nothing to do with my position.

[–] KIM_JONG@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So was Ronald Reagan, Madonna, Bob Sagat, John Elway, Eddie Murphy and hundreds of other people I won’t bother listing that were more significant than some pro wrestler.

[–] BigNote@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

I'm not arguing that he was more significant, just that he was pretty fucking famous. What part about this do you not understand?

[–] MasterNerd@lemm.ee 18 points 2 years ago (3 children)

How tf do they reconstruct someone who we don't even know whether or not they existed?

[–] Hovenko@iusearchlinux.fyi 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They took the dna sample from holy bible

[–] MasterNerd@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Supposedly the copy Moses jacked off all over

[–] Hovenko@iusearchlinux.fyi 2 points 2 years ago

Or just licked it

You mean to suggest someone would lie on the internet? How preposterous!

[–] agent_flounder@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] MasterNerd@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

hmm let's take a look at the first reply on that comment

[–] halvar@lemm.ee 14 points 2 years ago

Trevor on his way to get the jews out of egypt between two bank heists.

[–] FlashZordon@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

God: Here are the 10 Commandments

Moses Hogan: That doesn't work for me brother.

[–] itsgroundhogdayagain@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 years ago

then again, he might not

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 years ago

Fitting, since he was speaking to his brother.

[–] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago

Hey Fry-man, check this out!

[–] milpool@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 years ago

Does anyone remember Moses meat shoes?

[–] DavidGarcia@feddit.nl 5 points 2 years ago (7 children)

We have zero evidence what he looked like. The region was extremely ethnicly diverse. He could have looked like anything really, from pasty blond/red haired white guy to dark skinned. Most likely just similar to your average people in the region today.

[–] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Maybe zero evidence isn't quite true. I wonder what the researchers worked off to make this guess? Skulls from archaeological digs in the area? Egyptian art? It's a fair guess, at least, that Moses' hairstyle would have links with contemporary Egyptian culture, given where and how he grew up. But I agree at most it all probably amounts to very loose guesswork.

Or did they just pump into AI: "make a picture of Moses that looks different to medieval and early 20thC style, that will give me academia-likes." ;-)

Edit: ah, pity, looks like this is a joke rather than a real 'reconstruction'. I also didn't read the fact-check before I commented!

Glad to see the research budget is being well spent

I've listened to a fantastic audio Bible (NT) by a British drama group, and in John's gospel the Pharisees sound Welsh and Jesus Jamaican. I love it!

Now you make me want a whatever-this-is-Moses rendition of Exodus-Deutoronomy, preferably with the genealogies and demographic lists in rap form.
