This is my favourite embroidery piece (with hand crocheted edging) that my mother did.

She's always been more interested in doing the crochet than the embroidery, so there are lots of doilies and things in the cupboard.

Over at the p's.. so naturally means tech support. Jeez they panic.

It's sort of ironic. Back in the day as kids they'd slightly try and limit our screen time (pre smart phones)... talkin' N64 days.. confiscating that shit mid lylat wars / waveracer / 1080 binges like despotic barbarians. Now they beg to keep all their shit working and can't function without their devices. I'd love to see another carrington event.

E: ooh a downvote. Someone didn't do a barrel roll. Just realised if you type 'do a barrel roll' in chrome it does one. lol.

Tomorrow morning, I have a psychiatrist appointment for ADHD. Maybe after I get meds, I won't have "big feelings" anymore. But that might just be the suspected 'tism. Who knows at this point?

And who cares?

Cheers 🍻

Well. I've been playing video games and napping most of the day. Time for guitar I guess?

Double roll!

My grandma made Geoffrey the dog steamed fish, rice, and pasta. He ate none of it. But I gave him 20 of these little treats yesterday, because that's all he'll eat.

We are trying lots of different things.

My kid did a very important biology test today. We all put in a bet and will be eagerly anticipating results.

Me: 96%

The man: 85%

The kid: 75%

The dog: N/A

Melbourne view from REB

Okay, who sent this glorious weather?

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 9 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Autumn. About time too. I love this weather too - cool crisp nights and glorious sunny days is my jam. Soon be time to lift & replant the spring bulbs.

I put on Iron Man the other day and AC/DCs Back in Black comes on and my daughter goes "I like this music. Is it old people music?" I swear my back started aching as soon as those words left her mouth.

Today I am looking at removalists. I have an end leave date 4 weeks from now. I need some special boxes too. Not too difficult to pack as I have done all the sorting already. 🙂

It will be a bit spenny but worth it because ...beeeeach ⛱️🩴🌊😎

oooof friends are having a very vicious very public breakup / divorce all over facebook and I'm torn between just muting the pair, or replying to a public spats going "Jesus christ" until they both block me.

I've had a week of late nights but I hope I can fix that soon. I think I've been holding up alright but I don't recommend it.

I remembered to bring the growler to work and it's in the fridge pre-cooling before going to the brewery. I feel like I've earned it this week.

Me singing to the cat: "Alfie do ya want some wine? Ooh, no, you can't have it! Boyo do ya want some wine? You can have Alfie's! Alfie do ya want some wine? No cause you're a kitten."

... I haven't even had any wine yet.

Ah, it's been a good long while since I've woken up to the dance of the UTI fairies at 2 in the morning. Urrrrgh. Definitely didn't drink enough water the last two days.

Had a sachet of Ural but this doesn't feel like one I can flush out myself so thank goodness a dr is available at my usual practice tomorrow. Urrrrrrrrrrgh

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Was quite tired yesterday, went to bed earlier than normal, woke up at about 4 for a tinkle, fell back asleep until 6...decided to fall back sleep again (day off today) and holy shit the next 90 minutes was the deepest sleep I've had in a loooong time.

Wife's alarm went off, she had a shower, had the curtains opened and I did not budge until she actually woke me up.

Feel absolutely refreshed too.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I rate the two sleeps

Second one goes way deeper imo.

going to check out a campervan tomorrow. Mrs isnt keen, but still wants to have a look at it. not sure if we're just Tyre kicking, or if shes serious. Getting a straight answer out of her is tough.

Stand up paddle board acquired - just a cheap inflatable one that had good reviews. Nabbed one for the boyo as well. Sadly too windy to test 'em today, but I've always wanted it and now I have it.

I've been really enjoying green tea lately. I always loved it with yum cha but never had it on its own. Haven't had coffee in a week and I can't remember the last time I had a cappuccino. I think I've found my latest fad.

My Nana used to do "the fancy work" as she called it. Anyway I found this. She would've crocheted the edges and all. Oh the patience she had.

spoiler

Also found a shit load of birthday candles.

Terrible sleep but this morning is feeling kinda autumnal so it’s put me in a good mood. Leaves are already starting to change too.

Friday! At my secondary work site.

All quiet here today for the moment, there are some big wigs here today so I'm going to try my best to stay out o their way though one is camped in the staff room, that's going to be inconvenient for making coffee.

Hopefully not much to do today but at the same time there's only so much I can do to keep myself occupied.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Update address databases. That's a good makework/look busy go to. Has stood me in good stead over many many years. It always looks impressive if you start at the END of the alphabet - to casual inspection it looks like you've made a lot of progress. The tail end of the alphabet is usually the last one to be done so usually needs quite a lot of love too.

Well that's a bummer. Wiring is fried in a very weird way so no bueno getting dishwasher repaired 😞 have to wait for them to send the report to the manufacturer who will only then inform me if I get a replacement or refund. Which will be Tuesday at the earliest. At least I was lucky enough to get the tech in today... Looks like handwashing is on the cards for this weekend 😭

If I was handy with electronics at all I'd hope for a refund and then try to fix the electronics myself, but I barely have enough brain power to struggle through the days so I'll just wait.

Plus side is today is Severance and The Pitt release day 🥳 And I have got my antibiotics after the dr was late by half an hour, and my laundry is all done. I might get some soup from the shops because I cbf cooking today. though kimchi fried rice is definitely on the cards for the weekend.

Sometimes it's nice to be "officially" sick because that lets me finally relax my nervous system. That's kinda sad too but anyway
