Bold words coming from a couch fucker.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Someone really should ask if the Whitehouse cleaning staff are being paid extra to get Vance's emission's out of the furniture.

[–] Bruncvik@lemmy.world 94 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Vance is Peter Thiel's hand puppet, just like Trump is Musk's. Thiel and Musk first came to serious money when they merged their companies to create PayPal, and since then they've been cooperating on various projects. Their current project is to establish corpo-feudalism in the US, and for that they need geopolitical isolation (Thiel's job) and the dismantling of all social safetynets (Musk's job). That's all the context needed to understand Vance's behaviour.

Their playbook is The Sovereign Individual.

[–] camioblu@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago

Just like 2 dogs - feed off each other's bad habits and team up.

[–] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 59 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Hasn't fought a war in 30 to 40 years? Who came with us into Iraq and Afghanistan?

[–] Palerider@feddit.uk 16 points 2 months ago

Also a little over 40 years ago was the Falklands war.

[–] psmgx@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

And did real, actually fighting there, too.

Vance was in the Marines and ought to have known that

[–] root_beer@midwest.social 4 points 2 months ago

Wasn’t he just an enlisted PR stooge?

[–] martin4598@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago

Vance was a press correspondant in an office. He didn't do shit and didn't see shit. He has no idea what fighting a war is.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 53 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I hope this guy is a blimp in history and nothing more.

[–] OCATMBBL@lemmy.world 69 points 2 months ago

Like the Hindenburg, I hope.

[–] MisanthropiCynic@lemm.ee 48 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So I have the British to thank for me looking so cool as a teenager?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 47 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Well, it shows Vances vast knowlege of politics, history, and reality. It fits on a very small piece of paper.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

I've read longer fortune cookies

[–] Rin@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

I'd say that's an insult to the paper slip

[–] shadowDingus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Fuck you, Vance. You fucking dick puppet.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Couch fucker. Vance is the couch fucker, cheeto is the dick puppet. Get your facts straight!

[–] shadowDingus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

A fair assessment

[–] Lanske@lemmy.world 31 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They do their best to get alienated from their allies, don't they?!

[–] ploot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

They are evidently trying to destroy the USA's traditional alliances and weaken its historical allies. The most immediate benefit is to Russia, but China also benefits while North America and Europe lose out. Their motivation seems to be that turmoil offers billionaires new opportunities to make more money, and they may also hope to strengthen their dealings with Russian oligarchs.

War is good for business.

And despite the next rule being "peace is good for business", that's not actually all that true.

[–] notsoshaihulud@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

War is good for business.

wars fought on far away land, ideally fought by other people.

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yes, this is crucially what is often forgotten

If you are actually directly participating in a war, then it's nothing but destructive

"War is good for business" would apply mostly to china in this case, and a little to Africa and maybe South America depending on how involved they're gonna end up being

[–] notsoshaihulud@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yup, the country whose infrastructure is getting obliterated does not profit from war.

Care to elaborate on the South America/Africa part?

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well I'm mostly thinking they're gonna benefit depending on how ignored they end up being in any potential conflict, as a consequence of not being in that conflict. That's mostly speculation, I don't have anything to actually back it up beyond my meanderings

[–] notsoshaihulud@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I see what you mean, benefitting through not getting involved. I can totally see that going for South America Unfortunately, Central Africa would get deeply pulled into such conflict given its vast rare earth resources, so I doubt they could benefit.

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, possibly. Either way hard to predict how such a hypothetical would end up. Maybe you'll get stuff like china coming in and providing guarantees to Africa etc

Either way, probably a mess

[–] notsoshaihulud@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

last time I visited West Africa there was an incredible amount of Chinese investment going in. With the US abandoning soft power, I can't see how China wouldn't use this vacuum to take over the US's role.

[–] Spuddlesv2@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Haha! Yeah! Wouldn’t want some loser military that hasn’t won a war in the last 80 years. Haha!

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Can't lose a war if you don't declare war, taps head

[–] meowmeowbeanz@sopuli.xyz 24 points 2 months ago

Britain hasn’t fought wars? Try Googling Iraq and Afghanistan, Mr. Vice President.

What a knob, the Australians were right.

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sounds like something a knob would say.

[–] Palerider@feddit.uk 1 points 2 months ago

Not a knob, more of a bell-end.

[–] martin4598@lemm.ee 12 points 2 months ago

As a french, I expect an apology. Come on, you expect that from Zelensly so it's not that hard.
