Texas must create stricter quarantine requirements, increase the vaccine rate, and improve contact tracing to address this measles epidemic before it becomes a nationwide problem

So we're fucked then.

Wells said because the state can’t stop people from traveling

Hunh. Guess that's just for pregnant women trying to save their own lives, then, not for people trying to endanger everyone else ...

Maybe they could borrow some resources from ICE and border patrol, who could use a break from deporting citizens.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

Has anyone pushed the whole travelling thing? I'd love to hear the mental gymnastics they do to justify holding women accountable for an abortion but not holding people accountable from spreading a disease.

We all know it's oppression but I get a sick pleasure of watching them see the dichotomy, them trying to understand what the difference is, seeing that there is no difference but they need to justify one over the other, and then spewing some nonsense. For that split second, it's so fucking enjoyable.

Texas must create stricter quarantine requirements, increase the vaccine rate, and improve contact tracing to address this measles epidemic before it becomes a nationwide problem, warn infectious disease experts and officials in other states.

Ahh well, better luck next time

They're not saying this part out loud, but don't travel to Texas for 1-2 years.

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

Heck, at this point I'd probably just advise avoiding it altogether

Must be hard for Texas to be dealing with a new disease we know nothing about and can do nothing against.

They want those terminally stupid Texan antivaxxers to quarantine and following sensible health and hygiene rules instead of holding Measle parties? Good luck with that, boys. Try teaching a pig to sing instead, the chances are way better.

Texas really said, "Nah lets play one of the classics"

Maybe someone build a wall and make texas pay for it?

Not before Fled Cruise lands w/ the fam in Cancun, though. Timing, people.

Yeah, he’s really the canary in the coal mine. When he flees the state/country, you know shit’s bad…

These religious people in west Texas would rather their kids get sick and die than get a vaccine. They should be arrested for child neglect. It also says they'd rather have their kid die than get autism (not that it causes it but these people probably believe that).

I live in a major city in Texas, I'm autistic, and I've been told this by several people throughout my life. The last guy that told me that (during a debate about if vaccines cause autism) told me I was his best employee in many years and tried to get me back for years after I left his business. These people don't know what autism is, what autistic people "look" like, but they know it's the worst thing ever.. That same guy told me he would disown his son if he were gay. I think these people are just bad parents who didn't want kids in the first place.

Everything is bigger in Texas! Even the epidemics.

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 6 points 2 months ago

So? We have a COMPETENT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT that has DEMONSTRATED their Want and Professionalism to PROTECTING American Citizens! They DEFINITELY wouldn't do EVERYTHING in Their Power to allow Measles to MURDER as Many Children as Possible!

They'll be fine, they have vitamins, cod liver oil, malaria pills, veterinary drugs, etc. I'm sure any reports of sickness and death are just fake news. In the meantime block off their border.

I've got a buddy living out of state who is nicknamed Texas. I'm sending him this and blaming him for everything happening.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Its gonna be a nightmare 6 months waiting for my kid to be old enough to get their measles shot before some dumbfucks get her sick because they prefer medical advice from crooked politicians instead of doctors.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago

Time to embargo and blockade Texas.

Leave them to the fruits of their annual bad decision making.

Everything's BIG in Texas!
