Wait, do you think women would be impressed by my hand painted warhammer figurines because that would change everything

My wife was impressed with my miniatures when I showed her honestly. There’s seriously more chicks that appreciate that shit than the internet would have you believe.

[–] Box@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Can confirm. My fiance and I hit it off after an hour long conversation about skyrim lore.

Can someone please enlighten an ignorant Brit on why people are commenting about leftists and Democrats in response to a screenshot of a somewhat lame joke about 40k?

[–] MrMcGasion@lemmy.world 40 points 3 months ago

The user who tweeted the take is a political commentator, or maybe influencer would be a better term. There's a Wikipedia page about her that explains it better than I can.

Basically she rose to fame as an anti-feminist during Gamergate, but kinda also seems to have progressive views on some other topics which have given her a weird platform because basically no matter what side of the political spectrum they're on there's something for anyone to agree with her on, and something they'd want to cancel her over.

Everything is political now, haven’t you heard? The sun is woke and the moon is a nazi.

[–] match@pawb.social 12 points 3 months ago

this is insane. the sun is a nazi, the moon is a woke antifa womynista

Shoe just shits on people for engagement. She doesnt have any core belief other than "I am the smartest one in the room"

All of this.

Basically a Dave Rubin style "larping liberal" that just repeats alt right wing talking points.

[–] SnortsGarlicPowder@lemmy.zip 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

So economically left, socially conservative and gives people the feeling she is being disingenuous basically?

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

She has come out as pro LGBT, anti trans then pro trans, anti BLM and Pro BLM, pro gamergate, anti feminist then anti-anti feminist, pro Bernie, anti Trump but then Trump apologist. She was heavily involved in the right wing "rational skeptics" Youtube scene that was the forefather of todays alt right pipeline. She had a memorable episode listed in the wiki with one of them where she agreed with admitted pedophile milo yinnepolois that Leslie jones "looked like an ape," a very common racist trope that got the above pedophile banned from old twitter.

That sounds like a right winger chasing trends and public opinion, ala Grimes, not someone "socially conservative." Someome playing all sides, or at least trying to.

Anyway about it, it's someone who says they are a "social democrat" while repeating tons of alt right rhetoric. At best, shes very, very confused. At the worst, she just says what keeps making her money from conservatives.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

She's a centrist populist so the left and right both hate her (for different reasons).

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 22 points 3 months ago

Yes I am a whore. That will be 10$/h for each mini you stared at

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 6 points 3 months ago

Wait that doesn't make sense. Warhammer 40k minis are cool, and she is not.

Playing tank & mech battles with grown men is interesting, and she is not.

Is she implying that men aren't interested in anything? Including women? Because I find women very interesting. I might be single, but that's because right now I'd rather paint minis and work out then have conversations with a shoe.

[–] anonproxy00@lemm.ee -5 points 3 months ago (5 children)

shoe is proof the left grifts too. fuck shoe.

[–] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Nah, she's just the first step on the alt-right pipeline. For those in denial

[–] anonproxy00@lemm.ee 4 points 3 months ago

she was my first step to the left way back when, only reasion ik who she is.

[–] duckythescientist@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 months ago (2 children)

It's it a grift if she actually believes what she says? I get the vibe from her that she's sincere but has a bunch of bad opinions and isn't smart or introspective enough to realize or at least realize quickly.

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Could anyone fill me in on what she believes? The post here seems to be sarcasm given the context (I remember of how she talks in videos)?

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago

She "believes" whatever will get her the most YouTube engagement at the time she makes the video.

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I'd say we can safely count it as a grift if someone gets paid for spreading inaccuracies, which then motivates them to not bother correcting themselves, yes.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

The alt-right is "left" now?

[–] M137@lemmy.world -1 points 3 months ago

Would have guessed they are left based on the US flag profile pic.

[–] florencia@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 3 months ago

Proof is not needed that a human will grift. Babies already display knowledge of unfairness among their daycare classmates.#
