Oh, I recognise him. That's George.

Yeah, I'd know that deadbeat's external mouth parts anywhere. Dude owes me $20.

Sigh. That’s a dog whistle, you can just say mouth. It’s like when insects make jokes about our abdomens, it’s just rude.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

Look, I'm not prejudiced. I have plenty friends who are arthropods. But when did we get so woke that we can't say that they have mouth parts? This is why Republicans win.

That's Harry, George's identical twin brother. Unfortunately he isn't the evil one, which means George is still out there terrorising the world.

Looks similar to the European paper wasp. Would that match with the location you found it at?

Nevermind, apperently they have been introduced to almost anywhere :D

It's the one right of the red cicle though. The paper wasp. Notice the orange antennae.

Yes, the circle wasn't mine:)

His name was Robert Paulson

[–] too_high_for_this@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

IS

HIS NAME IS ROBERT PAULSON

"In death, a member of Project Mayhem has a name. His name is Robert Paulson."

The whole point of the quote is that while "Tyler" told the members they no longer had names or identities, the Narrator, out of respect for the dead, called Robert by his name after he died. The other members took it to mean that they would earn a name if they gave their lives for the Project.

I've been correcting people on this for 24 years and I hate myself

In general you can call anything with that body shape a wasp. Hornets are just big wasps. If it's not a bee or an ant, it's a wasp.

[–] Pantoffel@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

That makes it simple :D

Shot with Sony A7 III and a Sigma macro lens with 105mm and almost 1:1 resolution. This dude was quite large. I'm pretty sure it was not a wasp.

You know what would be more useful for identification - any indication of location. Was this seen in Australia, Thailand? Germany? Mongolia? Peru?

[–] Pantoffel@feddit.de 4 points 2 years ago

Germany. Didn't think of giving further information for identification, haha. These were supposed to be general stats.

Looks like either a European or Western Yellowjacket. Cute little guy, but probably an asshole. I admit he looks like he's nice, though.
