Holy shit can you guys imagine if the jury rules “not guilty, because you got the wrong fucking guy”? Luigi could probably run in 2028 and win.

[–] sdfric88@lemmy.sdf.org 75 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Lmao this guy thinks there will still be elections

[–] oatscoop@midwest.social 9 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

There will still be elections -- they just won't be fair and legitimate elections.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 5 points 3 months ago

50 States all went to the GOP... crazy how that happens now that Elon Musk counts the vote

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 55 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Not 35 years of age or older enough

[–] knightly@pawb.social 109 points 3 months ago (2 children)

The law clearly doesn't matter anymore.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 66 points 3 months ago (2 children)

It does for the right/"wrong" people.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 22 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Only as long as those people keep pretending.

In reality everyone knows we can just do whatever.

So executing the rich and forcefully redistributing their wealth is a valid public policy now

[–] SaltSong@startrek.website 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I mean, we've been trying to do other things, but they won't play nice. I guess we need to exterminate a few, then offer the rest the opt-in to pay higher taxes as an alternative.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The landlords that were holding the Chinese economy hostage were given a chance to relinquish their properties, then they executed the ones who wouldn't.

It's only fair we give them an opportunity to surrender.

[–] SaltSong@startrek.website 1 points 3 months ago

We've given them plenty of opportunity. We tried to pass something closer to universal health care, and they shot it down. We tried to raise the minimum wage, they shot it down. Tried to relive student loans, tried to make housing more affordable, nothing.

They have had their warnings.

If orangeboi runs, Luigi should run.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

More like repeat the same action that happened to the CEO of United Healthcare.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 25 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Can you imagine?

Orangeboi:

word salad

Moderator:

trying not to have a stroke Your response, Mr. Mangione?

Luigi:

BAM

And then everyone clapped

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

*sigh*

A man can dream.

A man can dream.

And if he were to run for a house seat, and we get 2/3 of congress to vote for a package to do this, we could make him president by impeaching and removing POTUS, VP, and have him be speaker of the house and succeed into the presidency for a special term.

Wishful thinking but it would technically be constitutional. I've tossed this idea and many others in my head about how to get massive support across the country to accomplish something crazy bold like this but I could go on and on and there's lots of what ifs

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago

Per the 1947 succession act if the speaker (or anyone else in the line of succession) fails to qualify, and age is a qualifier, it goes to next in line which would be the Secretary level cabinet positions.

I'd be very worried about Luigis politics outside of Healthcare. The jump to murder also does question whether he'd be able to make the compromises necessary to pass legislation. He grew up fairly rich iirc and I would like a president with a bit more life experience.

Sanders was the compromise choice

The oblique implication in my comment is that if orangeboi (illegally) runs for a third term, then it also does not matter if Luigi (illegally) runs when he’s too young

[–] laurelraven@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Why not? He already illegally ran in 2024, and was illegally inaugurated...

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

lol wow uh… you know, I guess you do have a point there 🫠

[–] gaja@lemm.ee 89 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's a threat to the poors. You hurt the rich, you'll be treated the same.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 61 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Sounds like they are saying we have nothing to lose.

I don't see a threat. I see permission.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 3 points 3 months ago

Happy cake day!

[–] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 57 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It feels like they should be doing everything to avoid a mistrial.

Maybe less embarrassing than a not guilty verdict?

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

Depends if someone has had a firm word with the judge about what is going to happen.

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 26 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

I have a feeling for a while that Luigi is absolutely innocent... and you know what? If, and hopefully when, he is acquitted (no need for jury nullification, I am convinced that he really didn't do it), that would mean the real shooter got away with it.

And that is kinda nice to hear that you can off a powerful shitbag individual and escape in the 21st century. Assassinations of major figures by people who escape are so rare I can count them on one hand. One of them was literally the first ever murder by firearm in London. A16th century assassination of a nobleman who remains undiscovered.

[–] LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago

I think the real Luigi likely trainhopped or otherwise entered the homeless underground, which would make him pretty untraceable. Many homeless are absolute masters on how to disappear/travel cross country for free.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 23 points 3 months ago

Luigi did nothing wrong. He didn't kill that guy either.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 23 points 3 months ago

Wow is this the best feds and NY state got here

🤡

Did anyone else notice on Reddit that whenever Luigi was mentioned there were a bunch of the same comments saying "this is old news if there were any updates we'd know about it". Meanwhile Luigi was getting censored super heavily. Starting to think those were all bots.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Reddit is an absolute hive of bot accounts and influencer accounts.

[–] Vex_Detrause@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 months ago

This is old news if there were any updates we'd know about it.

[–] LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

The bots are massive, it probably was a mix of bots and people who parrot bots thinking they are with the group

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 5 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I stopped posting at reddit. I deleted all but one account that I use for porn and extremely niche shit. I don't use it to post in political stuff there because fuck them.

[–] NoFun4You@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

This is the way

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 3 points 3 months ago

I hope lemme gets a Sims and Sonic board

And one for the weird bodyswap caption porn that was on reddit
