This new JRPG seems to get a lot of love. Anybody here played it yet?

I'm having so much fun with it. My only gripe is the audio during cutscenes. The background music drowns out the voice overs. Minor gripe.

I've only played the opening but have liked what I've seen so far. Despite being familiar in a lot of ways mechanically it still manages to feel fresh. To steal a comment from someone else on here, the turn-based combat with dodge, parry and QTEs feel like what the Final Fantasy franchise should have evolved into. The aesthetics and both narrative and visual point of view feel very distinct and unique so far.

I only hope it doesn't feel too short, as I've heard some people say it's not that long. Especially in the context of JRPGs.

Believe it or not, as I play I keep finding parallels to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

Now the badge system being equipped per character is different, but the block/parry system feels similar in a comforting way.
