It was a dark day.

Damn. I thought he had one more in him. Absolute legend who just got better with age, somehow.

We need Ian to get on this for a video, stat!

It's true I haven't played the Elden Ring expansion, and I guess that's the most difficult one now so it's required to have played it to be able to parade around your gamer credentials? Whatever that's supposed to mean? To me gaming is about enjoying a medium of culture, not a dick measuring contest. I've played Dark Souls, I've played Elden Ring. I've beaten Sister Friede, I've beaten Malenia.

I still think accessibility options are good.

Accessibility options are good. Not everyone is a god gamer with the reflexes of a 14-year old hopped up on Adderall and Red Bull. Some people just want to enjoy the story and the atmosphere of a game and it should be normal for us to let them.

Hot take: I think E33 is better than BG3. They are very different games, though. BG3 shines on the micro level in my opinion. Flexibility and player creativity in dealing with specific encounters or problems, especially in Act 1. The many ways of tackling the goblin camp is the classic example.

E33 is a linear JRPG. There is not much choice involved, but it's a gripping and interesting story told beautifully and with great cinematography. The combat is a fresh feeling mix of turn-based and Souls-like. The music and art direction are absolutely top quality, the script is written well and voice acted immaculately, whether you chose English or French.

He doesn't say who they are, but if I was a betting man I'd say this is the Chinese team MBS so desperately want in orders to grow the sport in China.

I mean, I prayed to the nether gods that we'd get a Letho game. He's the perfect protagonist if they wanted to move away from the books and more firmly into their own OC. Always had huge main character energy, and would be perfectly suited for exploring the morally grey areas of the Witcher world.

I'm still traumatised by getting that reaction from my friends the first time I told them about my diagnosis. A decade and a half later and I still have imposter syndrome about my own diagnosis.

Maybe the doctors were wrong and my friends were right all along? Maybe I'm actually just a worthless, lazy piece of shit?

I haven't heard about the soft lock, but the game keeps rolling autosaves for quite a while. I can usually go back a couple of hours, so unless it's one of those things where you don't realise you've been soft locked until way later you should be okay.

I'm with you in general, and I'm typically a patient gamer. However, sometimes you just want to be part of the conversation, even if it means eating a bug or crash or two. I played Elden Ring on release day a couple of years ago and it was an amazing experience to discover the game alongside everyone else back when the wikis weren't even filled out. I also played BG3 on release and while it was objectively a way worse experience than playing it now would be, it was still worth it to me to be able to participate in the whole world talking about that game for a couple of months proceeding its release.

Apparently 1 in 10 Americans think the Earth is flat.

I have confessed my sins previous weeks so I forgot about adding a disclaimer about the same game this week. You can't be patient all the time, sometimes it's fun to participate in the zeitgeist. This game is good enough to merit it, it's not even a full price game to begin with and they even had a release week sale.

I'll be back to the regularly scheduled programming soon enough. I have my Mankind Divided playthrough to return to and I have already installed F.E.A.R. as my next game.

Once practice and qualifying were completed, every car had lapped the Jeddah Corniche Circuit faster than its predecessor had managed with a single exception: the AMR25s of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll

Someone else linked this absolutely haunting reading of Kipling's 1915 war poem some month or so back elsewhere on Lemmy and it's stayed with me since then. The poem is great in its own right but this reading is something else.

If this is a one-stop we're doomed. And I have a sinking feeling in my stomach that it will be.

  • Swipe gesture actions don't work in the inbox view. I often find myself instinctively swiping to Upvote and/or reply on comments in my inbox, but it doesn't work unless you click through to open the comment thread. Would be convenient to have them work right there in the inbox.

  • Automatically hide the default banner from the header of Subscribed, Local and All feeds. It's nice to have the Post View Header setting on for communities, but the home page feeds doesn't have banners so it's just clutter. Possibly also automatically hide the banner and/or icon for communities that doesn't have a custom one set?

  • Option to have left-to-right swipe act as "back" button on all screens, including menus. Would help using the phone one handed.

  • Option to have "Confirm exit or save draft" dialogue pop up when exiting a post/comment you've typed in but not sent. More convenient than manually saving drafts, doesn't automatically clutter your saved drafts like auto-saving does and still works as a safeguard against accidentally losing long unsent posts.

  • View "Remote Local" function - ie what the Local page looks like on an instance other than your home, but without changing accounts. Good for finding new active communities, especially on smaller instances.

~~Remote instance community browser. Basically just a list of all the communities on a given instance that you can click through. Another good way of finding new communities.~~ EDIT: I found this is already possible. Maybe make it more visible? I don't know.

It hasn't been the most active lately but with the recent influx of new users I thought it might be a good time to promote it. I'll try to make an effort to post more but no promises.

Very impressive turnaround from Brighton and Hurzeler. Curious to see who comes out on top in tonight's rematch.
