Real chad scientists never do preliminary reading, just guess correctly and clear up any differences with the reviewers via arm wrestling - obviously

Just add so many references in your paper that reviewers can't be bothered to look any of them up. That way it'll also be less obvious when you add the references the reviewers ask for.
