Uhhh, I'm not avoiding your place due to Trump. When I can go to other places and get a quality, fresh, burger with fries and a drink for the same price as your "meal", I know where I'm going.

This goes for almost all fast food these days. Prices are stupid expensive for low quality, and a lot of sit down restaurants are beating fast food prices.

Seriously, places be averaging 12-20 bucks a person and wondering why their sales suck. I can order to-go from local restaurants for that price.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Delis and pizza joints will always beat fast food in my opinion.

McDonalds have forgotten their place. We dont go there because the food is good, we go there because we were able to fill ourselves up on pocket change.

McDoubles are $3.79 where I am. The fuck is that?!?

[–] Forester@pawb.social 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They still sell them for the old price but only if you give them unrestricted access to your phone

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

This should be pricing discrimination, honestly.

McDonald's is special. They think they're equal to chick-fil-a, canes, sonic, etc... But they make cheap crap that should only compete with taco bell. I just get better fast food for the same money elsewhere.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But if you're paying McDonald's prices you're STILL paying way too much for "fast food".

[–] redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

Yes but that's somewhat OK. The FAST part matters some days and I'll pay for it to eat in the car.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

My local gas station has better food for less. Their pork rib sandwich is $3.29 and is worlds better than the sugary slop that is the mcrib.

Yeah, the gouging has been my main reasreason for cutting back spending on food items.

In McDonald's case, I used to get stuff from there more when they had stuff that was at least trying to be healthy, like some of their salads and wraps.

Now it's $10 for a shitty 2-cheeseburger meal with shitty fries and shitty service. And they don't have much else.

Yet ya hosted him. And you're opening back up in Russia. Best of luck.

Leopards, Faces

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I thought it was just one franchisre and even they were saying they didn't actually approve it.

Okay okay McD's is overpriced crap but it's also the brand most highly associated with "America."

And our Toad In Chief, having escaped being sent to jail for his crimes, has gone on a destructive spree and crashed America into the mud, "Poop-poop!"

Nobody in the rest of the world wants to buy anything with his stink on it, even if it weren't overpriced crap.

[–] Derpenheim@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

They almost saved it, at least a little. Where I live they have a 5 dollar meal, which is drink, mcdouble (or mcchicken), fries, and 4 piece.

Then BAM Trump happened and I am trying very hard to buy non American products while living in America

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Or, you know high prices from low quality, slow food. I was fine paying cheap prices for food that was low quality and cheap, but I'm not paying chain restaurant prices for low quality, slow food.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 0 points 1 month ago

this. I ate fast food far to often before the prices doubled and now im not even sure when I will eat it but it would likely have to be a no or few options. Heck last time I did was when my wife was in the hospital and I decided I need a very fast option and like you have up there it was rediculously slow. After my order I was pissed that I had made the stupid decision waiting for the two cars in front of me to get their order and oh yeah. my order was done wrong but again. in a hurry.

[–] Wilco@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I hate saying it, but I don't actually think Trump is to blame for this one. Salty low quality food for damn near the same price as picking up from a restaurant would cost is likely to blame. You could also say that understaffed and scuzzy locations were also to blame.

McDonalds is just poor quality salted slop and since they got into middle school my kids don't even ask to stop there anymore.

[–] shawn1122@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Understaffing is a major issue. Recently having an E. Coli outbreak from their food doesn't help either.

It used to be that the food was at least fast and hot. Now there are times where you'll wait 20 minutes, it will be cold and might make you sick.

Add to that the price going up while the food is either the same or worse since the 90s.

In short, they've gotten greedy and they assumed it wouldn't affect demand which is not how economics work but it's how the worst of capitalists want it to work.

[–] Wilco@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

Indeed, I forgot the wait time.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I'm more certain than ever that you're a shitty company that pays shit wages with shit benefits and working conditions while paying your executives ever-increasing salaries even in the worst economic conditions. Trump just made me realize that every single dollar I spend could be used against me, my family, and my fellow man.
