This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

There is zero value with saying shit simply to piss people off. You're not bringing a different viewpoint or trying to encourage dialog, you're just spreading anger and outrage. If anybody wanted that they'd be on traditional social media.

What I wasn’t expecting is Ada’s response. She said in the modlogs she also felt the post was rage bait. I didn’t see that coming because I didn’t think Ada was a zionist. I thought she would be fine with seeing zionists get angry, because they get angry over the most mild things.

I'm not going to remove someone for complaining about my moderation. Which is to say, ranting about me in this community is something I'll leave up to the community mods to deal with however they feel appropriate.

Any community member is allowed to rule on any action placed here. We've even had mods pre-emptively post their own actions here for judgement. That's not stirring the pot, that's normal community engagement. (It would be stirring the pot if she had engaged with the topic, and not the mod action. Big diff.)
I really didn't want to actually post a response here but your mugging for the audience, "hey look at this comment!" behavior is such a pet peeve of mine. If you're going to accuse Ada of being a zionist, accuse her. If you're going to complain about the mod action, do that. But "here's a quote from someone else, and I'm going to side-eye the situation" is so... gutless, and adds nothing.

BPR/YDI. The fact you are doubling down on the shit stirring here confirms it was the right call by both mods/admins.
YDI. Rage baiting is a form of trolling. The point is not necessarily that your opinion is infuriating the mod, but that it's intended to cause intense discussions (typically between third parties) which often devolve into flamewars that are difficult to moderate therefore wasting the mods' time and deteriorating the community cohesion. If your plan was to have a constructive discussion about the topic, there's other ways to word it. But it's clear when you don't want to do that.

Ada likely wants a civil community. Allowing ragebait of any kind isnt conducive to a civil community. It likely has nothing to do with the content of the bait.

Your post is bad, and you should feel bad.
YDI, you should take the message. Your ragebaitng isn't seen as acceptable. Now when people including the mod are calling you out on it, instead of stopping and disengaging you're doubling down and calling them Zionists. This doesn't help you, it's just going to make your situation worse.

But you actually did post to rage bait. I’m not usually one to defend Ada, but in this case, you went there intentionally to stir things up, and you got exactly what you were looking for.
Posting in a place you don’t like, just to see what happens, is the definition of trolling. It’s not like how Lemmy uses the word now to describe anyone they disagree with. The real definition is posting something just to get a reaction.
In this situation, I'm saying YDI.
Rage baiting is not nice. Stirring drama; is not nice. If you had a point to make, I think it would had been taken better. Rage baiting is not nice.
Bad faith intent... Not sure if should have censored but you shouldn't be doing that. It is poor decorum.
Discourse should be organic for it to have any value IMHO
