The court barred the removal of the men, who the Trump administration alleges are members of Tren de Aragua, pending a new decision from a lower court.

The justices did not rule on whether the Alien Enemies Act, which the Trump administration invoked in mid-April to deport the detainees, had been applied correctly.

So they kicked it back to a lower court, and left everything else alone. Fucking cowards.

I read the full article and it isnt clear but I think they decided they can't deport them until a lower court ruling is determined. I think the lower court ruling is to determine if there is a gang affiliation or not. But im pretty sure they definitely didn't "kick it down" to lower court. Mostly going off the way the author used "pending" in their explanation of the Supreme Court barring their deportation but not making a ruling. 100% not a lawyer tho
