Austria saved us from an ESC held in (soon to be) newly anexxed Gaza City.

Never had a bigger cheer than for this winner!
You could just tell how nervous the presenters where after they announced Switzerland got 0 from the public.
Switzerland did not deserve that goose egg. Everyone in the bar I was at (US, MN) was shocked when that was announced, we also booed Israel and laughed at UK getting zero (even if that is the song that comes the closest to describing this year's Eurovision - what the hell just happened? No clue but I hate it). We were hyped for Austria pulling out the win.
(Sweden won the bar votes, of course)
I didn't love the UK song but it was fun and staged/performed well. They deserved better.
Switzerland definitely didn't deserve 0.
But what do I know. I'm the only person who actually liked Embers.
It seemed like they had audio issues with the broadcast for that song on top of audio issues at the bar I was at, it really didn't show the song in the best light but I suspect it was their best performance of the entire contest and it's a shame the audio issues hurt it, I'll have to rewatch it. I'm not sure they deserved 0, but I thought it was bad enough it was funny they got zero.
Alternative theory: Austria won it, but the producers rigged it to precipitate a dramatic showdown with a broadly despised antagonist, for the ratings.
Or it was a hacking op by Mossad or one of the numerous private security consultancies run by ex-Mossad personnel.
