I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who didn’t have their iud removed before its expiration date due to pain.

I've had two partners receive it, and it's difficult to put into words how upset I am at their pain not being taken seriously. Like, existential anger at the human race levels of frustration
It’s frustrating because of the gaslighting. “You’ll just feel a little pinch” - uh no. Sent home with nothing, “take some Tylenol” while I changed several overnight pads to deal with the bleeding.
I don’t care if it’s not “supposed to hurt” - it clearly does. People have been saying this for years - why wasn’t that enough?
Mine is late, and I’ve been putting off getting it taken out in part because no insurance but also the pain.
When I was on my OB Gyn rotation for my 3rd year of medical school, my preceptor offered local anesthesia for IUD insertion as well as a prescription for valium to take before the procedure to all of her patients. She's a younger physician though and very adamant about keeping up with the best/most current recommendations.
My wife kept both of hers for over five years.
The last one had gotten stuck and required surgical extraction. This was awful and hurt despite her getting all kinds of drugs.
Good opportunity for me to get snipped, I don't want her to go through that again.
Can we add pap smear and cryoablation to that?
I personally love that a gyno I’m visiting for the first time has, contrary to my specific request, taken biopsy samples without warning, more than once (that’s why I have a specific request).
For real, they’re not vets or pediatricians (I’m not a kid person, I don’t know if this is fair for pediatricians), they don’t need to surprise their patients with painful procedures. Just tell me when you’re going to do a thing so I can take a deep breath.
Fucking finally
