I used to get yelled at by my dad for annoying him when I tried this, so now whenever a kid does this I give them the biggest praise and tell them how awesome it is! I'm not gonna make some kid feel bad like my asshole dad did.

Count yourself fortunate. I never had any kind of meaningful relationship with any of my grandparents. They were just people we visited sometimes.
Oh, I do. I am extremely blessed to have had a loving family in all directions. Upwards, sideways, grand parents, parents, siblings, cousins, third cousins... Very lucky. Nobody that I dislike for any reason. I think that's probably rare.
