Was anyone else taught this, and were you constantly living in fear of your own subconscious thoughts?

This is the root of my scrupulosity. The idea that I was being watched all the time.

"If The Saviour Stood Beside You" and "Dearest Children, God is Near You" both have lyrics that fed the notion that I was being constantly watched. For a time, I was even afraid to shower when I was a pre teen. I would wear a swimming costume because I knew I had to be modest and God could always see me.

Such dangerous and damaging teachings.
