I know it's not an European service but I thought for those many who just ghost platforms when switching services instead of deleting their accounts when moving to European alternatives should be aware of this news

A small portion of the article:

At the end of May, Meta will start using Europeansโ€™ data to train its AI. Here is how you can exercise your rights and prevent it.

Instagram and Facebook users in Europe will soon have their data and posts used by parent company Meta to train its artificial intelligence (AI) models.

Europeans have until May 27 to restrict Meta from using their data, the date when the company will start using Europeโ€™s data.

It's gonna use that data anyways regardless of what laws are out in place

Data Protection Commission (DPC) is already on record working any possible corners Meta could cut to protect in such case of AI usage of European data Article in this regard ongoing development: Archived URL (Wayback Machine) - Original URL

most important is to not give them any more free content

I mean, if we filled their site with the most obviously fake, bad AI slop imaginable to the point the AI ends up becoming useless, that would also work. But it's probably better and definitely easier to just do what you said

They will respect your choice, ignoring it would be a stupid risk when they have a loophole so obvious they are open about it. Even if you opt out, any content about you shared by someone that didn't will be used to train their models.
