Try going for happy. That tired part doesn’t go away.

[–] clang@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago

The tired just gets deeper and closer to the soul

[–] Signtist@bookwormstory.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

I find that the tired part is easier to swallow if you instead think of it an a happy opportunity to put on some music and rest your eyes.

42yo me: I just want to lose most of the weight I gained in my 20s and 30s

(60 lbs down, 110 or so to go)

[–] Hasherm0n@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Grats! Keep it up!

[–] Baguette@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Sounds like you already made good progress! Keep it up

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

41yo me with 2 kids, can I please have one hour just for myself or 8 hours of sleep for once??

And yes also the body fat...

35-year-old me: I don't care about being tired and wanting to be happy anymore, I just want to have my basic needs met and humanity to be better.

[–] HiddenLychee@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Humanity to be better? I feel like I've already given up hope on that and I'm 7 years your junior

[–] Vanilla_PuddinFudge 6 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

37 here.

I have zero hope in humanity. Sure, you'll wave your signs and protest like we all have and do, but less will as rightwing rhetoric destroys more young minds minute by minute. I can't even keep a damn microphone on any game anymore without hearing lib this and lies that.

This shit has been going on for over 40 years. Good luck.

Just want to work less and for stuff to be cheap

[–] dabaldeagul@feddit.nl 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

As a 20 year old, I have both :')

Still want to do uni and make a name for myself, achieve some cool things for the world & humanity, but at the same time I feel like just "making the most of it," and try being content just messing around with electronics and FOSS in my free time... But I guess that can just be my back-up if university doesn't pan out.

[–] thevoidzero@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

I want to be a professor so I can do Foss stuffs. I see a lot of flexibility on the type of tech used by professors.

[–] AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Network. Get to know people. That's what my parents never got across. People can hand you jobs in Uni. Out there you have to scruff for them and fight tooth and nail for a crappy job regardless of your SAT scores. The bigger thing that I never understood: you don't make yourself. Other people bolster you into positions. It's not cheating. It's how the system works.

[–] dabaldeagul@feddit.nl 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Gonna save this comment, thanks. Stuff like this is difficult to plan out when you didn't expect to get this far to begin with lol

[–] AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, sorry. The world isn't done with you yet.

You know, you'd be a lot prettier if you smiled more often.

[–] thevoidzero@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

So if I get a PhD in engineering field and become a professor. All I need is a chance to get to space and I'll get everything. Nice

Jonny Kim: Hold my beer.

Edit: Astronaut, doctor, pilot, SEAL

[–] oppy1984@lemm.ee 2 points 3 weeks ago

I always wonder if he has any siblings, like and what did you do? "I sold more units this quarter and got a congratulatory certificate with a $25 Applebee's gift card".

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Dam, at 25 I still felt great. I think it started taking its toll on me every year after that though. 30 onward everything is tiring, it was a good run...

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

This really takes me back. I couldn't even count how many things I wanted to be as a kid. Ended up studying chemistry in college and then becoming a computer programmer. But overall I feel like my succession of hobbies and interests have always defined me WAY more than my job has.

I just wanna make video games and eat carbs.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

I feel as you

[–] AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I would settle for, "not tired".

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

I don’t even mind being tired.

[–] doomcanoe@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Pardon the trite advice, but it really is a marathon, not a sprint.

How ever you're feeling is a-okay, but if you find things to look forwards too, lean into them.
