Thanks! Yes, this is just a link pasted into the "link" field of the Lemmy post. I got a hint that tagging a Lemmy community in a Pixelfed (or Mastodon) post should create a post there, then maybe embedding would work correctly. I tried that with another post so let's wait and see if it federates.
I have "discovered" the video form of presenting miniatures and I have the "never looked back" feeling. 15 minutes of setup, 2-3 minutes of filming, 5 clicks in Shotcut and I'm done with a post. No need to work on several images to fit them to a format or color-correct...
