That's my biggest takeaway from meditation so far. You don't create your thoughts, they simply appear and you can learn to choose how you react to them.
NiceMemes
A place to post memes & images that won't absolutely obliterate your mental health! Memes must not stray into hopelessness and be generally positive or neutral.
I made this with my kid in mind, so that they can have a good, safe place to look at memes, just made to make folks laugh and smile!
Only goofs & silliness. (:

Yep! General brain banter is just programming. Usually other people's standards which we've incorporated unconsciously when we needed to adapt to the situations they created.
Besides meditation, another thing which may help (at least it did me) is to try to identify who in your past or present would reinforce the negative self-talk, because that person's most likely the source of at least a snippet of your current programming. After you've done this, start applying their voice to the thoughts which'd fit their M.O., that made it easier for me to isolate the strands which weren't purely mine and to even fight back against them through logic (Reductio Ad Absurdum pushed me over my self-loathing).
Needed this today, thanks LadyButterfly!
