Still a lot of people’s logging in at 1.1k per day.

[–] dalekcaan@lemm.ee 44 points 1 week ago

Leave me alone, I'm a chronic procrastinator.

[–] geekwithsoul@lemm.ee 27 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I setup my new account on a new instance a bit ago but want to stick it out to the end on this one!

Same same. I have another Lemmy and my PieFed.

Logged into PieFed with the new Voyager beta!

Don’t want to upset the river flow.

Gotta make the ux as smooth as possible.

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What's this screenshot from?

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It’s from the Mlem app in the instances section on the search tab.

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ah, I can't access that then. What do the SJW stats look like?

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You can see them on the default desktop ui on the sidebar:

Ugh, still need to make a new account...

[–] ksigley@lemm.ee 19 points 1 week ago

Don't delay. My registration for a new instance took a couple days to get approved.

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Have you at least backed up your subscriptions/blocks?

Ledericas beat me to it but here is the post explaining all of it https://lemm.ee/post/65824884

Hey everyone

We’re really sorry to say this, but lemm.ee will be shutting down on June 30, 2025. What you need to know

As of now:

New user registrations are disabled
Creating new communities is disabled

What you should do:

You can export your settings at https://lemm.ee/settings to take them with you to another instance.
If you’re moving to another instance, consider adding a note to your lemm.ee profile with your new username. Your old profile will still be visible from other instances even after we go offline.
Alternatively, if you want to delete your lemm.ee profile, now is the best time to do it, so the deletion can federate out before we go offline.
If you’re one of the folks supporting us with a recurring donation, please remember to cancel it (Ko-Fi donations should have been cancelled automatically already). Our leftover funds are already enough to cover our bills for next month, so we can keep things running without any more support.

Because of how Lemmy is built, everything posted on lemm.ee will still be accessible from other instances, even after we go offline. Why this is happening

The key reason is that we just don’t have enough people on the admin team to keep the place running. Most of the admin team has stepped down, mostly due to burnout, and finding replacements hasn’t worked out.

The sad reality is that while there are a lot of great people on Lemmy, there are also some who use the platform to attack others, stir up conflict, or actively try to undermine the project. Admins are volunteers who deal with the latter group on a constant basis, this takes a mental toll. Please understand why our admins chose to step down, and be kind to the admins on whatever instance you decide to join.

We know this sucks. We’re genuinely sorry it’s ending like this. Thank you to everyone who spent time here and helped make it better.

I love how mbin can still give context of the topic link even though lemm.ee is shutdown

from mbin

from lemmy

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

lack of admins, to moderate the many communities, especially from trolls and spammers, bots. they couldnt replace the ones that step down or disappeared since they have been asking.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Still waiting on news from .zip. I applied weeks ago, never got an email. Ah, well, I'm trying out piefed while I wait.

[–] Demigodrick@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 week ago (19 children)

Hey! Can you double check its not in your spam folder?

If there's nothing, then please send an email over to hello@lemmy.zip, include your username, and we can have a look for you!

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 5 points 1 week ago

Yeah, nothing! I'll send over the email, thanks!

Message @demigodrick@lemmy.zip to look into it. I know they got slammed but it shouldn't take that long.

I boarded the ship just mere months ago. It was a fun cruise while it lasted. Gentlefolk, it has been an honour scrolling with you. 🎻🫑

[–] Pringles@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 week ago

Already found a new home.

[–] Zimroxo@lemm.ee 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'll be on here til the day the site is down 🫑

(I have a piefed acct but the app I use doesn't fully support it yet)

[–] huppakee@feddit.nl 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I feel your pain, also wanted to migrate to piefed but eventually didn't (at least for now) because I like voyager better then interstellar.

[–] malfisya@piefed.social 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Good news for you, voyager has (experimental) support on piefed! It is rough now but it is there.

Relocated as soon as I can after the announcement. The only ones (of mine) coming down with the ee ship are my posts and comments--probably.

Honestly don't know if I'll keep using Lemmy. Been 2+ years now that Lemmy has been the only social media I use and can't say that its doing anything for me other than being a outlet for my shitposting. Lemmy feels pretty empty. People dont DM. There aren't many coms with core regulars that create a community. Saying anything beyond basic obvious sarcasm opens you to being banned from entire instances. There aren't many instances that allow the user to decide what they want to see, using the tools that lemmy provides, and defederate or block entire instances.

In 2025 Lemmy is at like 50k active users. Still no community or connection like the forums I used in 2005 with 500 users. Still no community or connection like the subreddits I used in 2015 with 5k users.

Kinda thinking the internet really is dead, even on our outlier of federated open source social media.

[–] huppakee@feddit.nl 8 points 1 week ago

I do like how you are free to comment on anything without people caring whether you know them not, and i like how it's not private communication but open for anyone to participate.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I have the opposite problem I receive so many dms on Lemmy and Matrix as I need to respond to them eventually but then the call of the void to post more gets me. Everyone is so talkative here.

I also tend to see the same individuals on a regular basis, I really do feel the companionship. Like when I talk about Manitoba with ValueSubtracted@startrek.website.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why would you want people to DM you?
