This is a place to share greentexts and witness the confounding life of Anon. If you're new to the Greentext community, think of it as a sort of zoo with Anon as the main attraction.

Be warned:

If you find yourself getting angry (or god forbid, agreeing) with something Anon has said, you might be doing it wrong.

Got addicted to swapping meat for chrome. Went cyberpsycho yet remained "high functioning". Silverhand could also be considered a high functioning cyberpsycho.

i think the cpred book says pretty much exactly that about Johnny

In the same way pure hearted good guys can be a fresh of breath air after dozens of anti heroes, sometimes straight forward evil people can be relieving after so many "the ends justify the means" people.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Is he even evil? Hes just a crazy strong brutal bodyguard, I don't know that him working for arasaka automatically makes him evil.

[–] faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 24 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Adam Smasher is actually evil, yes. Anon is ignoring large swaths of backstory for this greentext, lol.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't think ive run into much of his back story in my playthrough to be fair.

[–] faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's been a hot minute since I played it, but I remember a lot of his backstory is hidden behind player choices. You may have to play through multiple times or just look up spoilers to get the whole thing.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah thats fair. He reminds me a lot of the mountain from game of thrones, especially the fight scene with the viper. I'm not sure if CDPR meant to draw comparisons to that but it jumped out at me immediately.

Doubtful as Adam Smasher is an OG NPC from back in the CP2020 days.

But I agree with your comparison. Big silent type bastard who's just really enjoy his job of being a big bastard.

I haven't played the game much so I don't know.

I think I read somewhere about a theory that it's not the real Adam Smasher that V meets, it's a clone because the original Adam Smasher could handle the insane amount of cyberware.
I guess it's possible the real Adam Smasher was soulkilled, and then took over a clone of himself? Surely before Saburo Arasaka uses it someone else would've had to been a test subject after all.

I like it. This is at least someway for them to get out of the situation when the strongest and the most horrifying entitity in their universe got smashed by a random goon from the street.

+ They can cover it up by how mastermindly Arasaka was in that story by sending the fake Adam Smasher.

"Deep-seated". Just sayin'.

Just got off the phone with my son who told me he bought Cyberpunk 2077 and this is literally the next Lemmy post I see.

[–] lb_o@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

And this is not some Baader Meinhof bullshit. It is the actual faith speaking to you and your son to finally play the game.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Wait, I have to play as well?

For some reason I don't particularly like cyberpunk stuff.

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 month ago

In that case you can play Witcher 3 instead, I'll allow it

[–] lb_o@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Well, forgive me, but we can't go against the faith, sorry.

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

This game has a lot of soul, if you like characters and atmosphere. Adam Smasher isn't even relevant for most of it

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, I've already played a bit and love it. But then XWVM caught my attention. Now I gotta switch it up.

[–] the_wiz@feddit.org 9 points 1 month ago

I would say "taking an RPG projectile to the chest" is surely traumatic and could lead to all sorts of crazyness...

[–] murvel@feddit.nu 8 points 1 month ago

Not true; the wannabe NC legend is a core theme of the game. Smasher got there by being absolutely ruthless and navigating Arasaka by the same ethos (i.e none).
