I think you’re definitely on the right track, and that it’s totally doable. I would make sure to get some particularly strong magnetic sheeting, though, as in my experience, they always err towards being too weak for what they were designed for, I can only assume because that’s the cheapest way to manufacture them.

Yea that's my biggest worry. I'm wondering if a mat over sheet would be too much since the sheet can only have so much density.
