I still don't get the people's obsession with these people.

Like, I saw the clip and thought that it was amusing, but can anyone please tell me why is it worldwide news?

Because getting your affair revealed on a jumbotron is the kind of shit that happens in movies, not real life. Their reaction was priceless.

I can't wait for the cheaters at big tech to be exposed. Oh the dirt some of us have. It's wayyy worse than astronomy ceo. X100

They could have simply played it cool and acted like nothing happened - no one would have even seen the image. As CEO and HR, maintaining composure and saving face is literally part of their job.

[–] ddplf@szmer.info 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You see that sentiment a lot, but I'll give it a hard no. This was a public event with about a 100 000 attendees, and Astronomer hires over 300 employees. There's a very decent chance someone would notice.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

One percent of their employees were in the picture (the couple and one additional woman were all from the company).

But I suspect the chances that anyone that would recognize them to be in the audience and paying attention to the kiss cam is still low.

Even If they had been caught, wouldn't have gone viral. So maybe their affair is caught, but no one knows or cares outside their personal circle.

What’s more interesting to me is she looks pretty normal, and also his own age.

When compared to his wife that is a smoke show younger model.

Usually it’s the other way round.

Ancient maxim: no matter how attractive someone is, there's always somebody that's tired of their shit.

Cheaters always want what they don't have, doesn't matter their circumstances

His real wife is attractive, but the super young model one is just an image that has been going around for the divorce meme. His real wife works in the education sector and, while a fair bit older than the one circulating, is quite lovely.

Sharing her photo feels kind of fucked up so I deleted it from my comment (hopefully it took), but if you Google image search "Astronomer CEO's wife" you'll at least get the real one as the top results. Can't do much about that.

Ahh I see. Amazing how fake stuff can get spread around. That’s the one that I saw and just took it as gospel. Thanks for the heads up

My theory is people always like someone that looks like themselves. Look at them, they look alike.

I bet he's going to say something along the lines of he "emotionally resonated" or "developed synergistic emotional coherence" with the HR lady. That, or the wife doesn't like Coldplay. I hear their fans are pretty insufferable.

[–] BagOfHeavyStones@piefed.social 31 points 3 days ago

"How'd their faces get so red.
And did the lady hear use her head?"

[–] lazynooblet@lazysoci.al 15 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Keep seeing this around Lemmy. I'm out the loop.

[–] rem26_art@fedia.io 30 points 3 days ago (1 children)

at a Coldplay concert, there was a kiss-cam where a camera would point at who the cameraman felt were a couple, display them on the Jumbotron, and then they would be prompted to kiss. The camera pointed at these two, where the guy turns out to be the CEO of some company, and the lady is his secretary. Both were married to other people, so they were caught having an affair and ducked out of the view of the camera, and it went viral.

[–] higgsboson@dubvee.org 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

She is the Chief HR officer, not a secretary.

[–] rem26_art@fedia.io 3 points 2 days ago

ah, my bad, I misremembered it

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world -3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Could someone not call them the Secretary of Human Resources and it also be accurate by meaning? I think somehow we have degraded the term secretary through sexism. Secretary of State, Treasury, Defense are all some of the "highest" roles in our country yet we hear secretary and apparently it has a stigma from this context

[–] diemartin@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 days ago

A tech CEO is at the center of internet controversy after a video from a stadium jumbotron of him embracing a woman who is not his wife went viral on social media.
