Three Republicans joined Democrats in an 8-2 vote to approve a motion to issue a subpoena to the Justice Department for the release of files tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

The House Oversight Committee will subpoena the Justice Department to release files tied to the case of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, according to a committee spokesperson, after three Republicans on a subcommittee joined Democrats to vote on the matter Wednesday.

The subpoena “will be issued in the future,” the spokesperson said, without providing additional details on the timing.

Three Republicans on the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee joined Democrats in an 8-2 vote to approve a motion by Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., to compel the Justice Department to release files tied to Epstein, a convicted sex offender who died in prison in 2019.

Congrats. "Future"? Is that two weeks Trump spin? We will see.

Plus I think the DoJ just ignores this anyway. Not like the regime has had to face consequences.

They will only be released when the files a properly curated and deemed ready to be consumed by republicans. A full playbook is being written as you read this for how it must go down to control the narrative. Either with catastrophe included or as a backup if it’s not working.

Thank goodness Trump can’t read or follow instructions very well

Somebody better not give him a Sharpie.

Everybody has speculated where the line is for Trump supporters. In 2015, the line was 30% of all Republicans. That’s comical in hindsight. He promised a new beginning to rural voters who have been screwed over by the system for generations at this point with no end in sight.

A decade later, everyone forgot the possibility that there may be a line. Raping children. That’s the line. Years of dehumanizing Trump supporters has blinded everyone to the fact that they believe they’re cleaning up a deeply flawed system. A system run by evil Democratic pedophiles who worship Satan.

Finding out that the god emperor who is supposed to be the savior of the country is an actual child rapist shakes their belief in him to the core. He promised to release the Epstein files and bring justice to all these evil wealthy monsters. The fact that he is one of those monsters is his Achilles Heel.

Trump supporters will embrace pedophiles before they acknowledge they've been had. They're already letting state legislatures roll back the age of consent and put minors into adult work.

Not to mention, check their genitals to play sport.

[–] triptrapper@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Right. They're only interested in catching liberal pedophiles, and they'll do any gymnastics necessary to absolve conservatives. Even if they're on the same list, they'll just say half the list is fake news.

Lmao what reality are you living in? There hasnt been a line since beofre trumps first term. This dude has been doing ABSOLUTELY INSANE bullshit for like 10 years now, and no one has dealt with him.

He could broadcast him raping a child on wall street and he wouldnt lose a single vote.

You seem to be laboring under the delusion that Trumps supporters are normal people who have been decieved and tricked in some way. That is laughably untrue. Having dealt with many of them from every walk of life, I can safely say that the one common thread behind all trumpers is that every single one of them without fail is a piece of shit. The misery and suffering they cause is literally the point. All this bullshit with ice? You debate immigrants and most of them agree immigrants arent really a problem. You then ask if the ice raids are going overboard and they say no, because "theyre only targetting immigrants" even though theyre not.

These people will ignore reality, just as you are doing, if it means they get to watch someone suffer. Every single one of them is a waste of air.

They're gonna Mueller Report this and sweep it under the rug.

[–] tea@lemmy.today 4 points 3 days ago

Mueller report not moving the needle was the moment I realized we were good and truly fucked and truth didn't matter anymore. Clearly documented obstruction of justice and nothing came of it.

This screws up the acronym I'm cooking up.

  • Republicans
  • Enable
  • Pedophiles
  • Undermine
  • Basic
  • Liberties
  • Ignore
  • Constitutional
  • Accountability
  • ??? I'd rather my acronym be discarded than those files, assuming the turds comply with the subpoena. What's the penalty if they don't?

Nonces.

Nonce, a slang term chiefly used in Britain for alleged or convicted sex offenders, especially ones involving children

You can't think of an N-word?

[–] SpraynardKruger@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

There's an n-word that Republicans tend to use more than other people. However, it is in terrible taste to use it.

Subcommittee Chairman Clay Higgins, R-La., and Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., were the only no votes. Republican Reps. Nancy Mace, of South Carolina; Scott Perry, of Pennsylvania; and Brian Jack, of Georgia, voted with Democrats to approve the motion.
