I once had a legitimate and expected call circa 2014 with the SSA to discuss depositing into my bank account of a dispursement. The call came from a random Tennessee number. The first question was "what's your Social Security number?" And my response was "I don't think I'm supposed to give anyone that" and the guy legitimately laughed and went "yeah, but you need to give it to us" and that's the day I discovered our government's opsec is 💩.
