I'm a purist, I want simple, unadulterated shortbread. However I will partake in chocolate shortbread if that's all that's available

Chocolate chips are passable, if you're into that kind of thing. Plain is better though.

Chocolate coatings however, and I say this as a non-religious person, are a hedonistic sinful abomination worthy of the fiery pits of hell. Chocolate coatings on shortbread are the reason the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were smote. Do not coat shortbread in chocolate, lest ye be stricken from this mortal coil!

It kind of stops being shortbread if it's covered in chocolate.

It's still going in my belly, though.
