Hi everyone,

I'm excited to share that I've been working on a bot to help keep our community active with regular content, and I'd love to get your thoughts on what racing series you're currently following or would like to see more coverage of. Since Lemmy is still growing and most motorsport content is pretty sparse across the platform, I'm particularly interested in hearing about series that you think would resonate well with our community or that you're personally passionate about.

I'll be sharing more details about how the bot works when I officially announce it, which should be within the next few days – if I can wait that long hahaha! It's already set up to pull content from many popular racing series worldwide, but I'm happy to add any specific series that our community members are interested in.

Thanks for taking the time to share your input – it really helps make this a better space for all of us.

I'm keeping up with IMSA and WEC. I'm also watching all the major GT endurance races (e.g. Bathurst 12h, 24h Spa, 24h Nurburgring, Silverstone) outside of them.

I've been casually watching GTWC (mostly EU and America), ELMS, ICGT, NLS, and DTM. I occasionally watch British GT, GTWC gt4, dark horse challenge, Porsche cup, super trofeo, and various touring car series. I haven't been keeping up with Creventic 24h series this year. I gave up on Aussie Supercars when my source dried up, and there's so much free content on others I don't bother (it is a great show though, and I always try to find a source for the Bathurst 1000).

That reminds me, I'm behind after being out of town last week...

All of the channels/series you mentioned should now be monitored and eligible for posting by the bot. There were a lot of other code changes made at the same time so I can't promise you it's working perfectly just yet, but the functionality is there now.

Several of those series are covered with what I added to the bot initially. The others will take some time to get figured out and added, I'll put them on the list for the next round of major changes.

The bot is running and posting to a test community for the next several hours. If all goes well there I'll probably reconfigure it to post here sometime tomorrow.

I haven't been keeping up this year (I'll watch the races back on YouTube at some point) but GT World Challenge Europe is good viewing typically.

Otherwise WRC is shaping up to be a cracking season.

There are multiple GT series that will be monitored by the bot, glad I'm not the only one interested!

What I've seen so far has been great. Speaking of, I only have the bot set to monitor the official channel at the moment. Is it worth adding Dirtfish? I don't want to completely replace human posts and the bot is supposed to be smart enough to not double/repost if someone beats it to the punch. It can always be left off to start with and added later too.

Dirtfish is better than the official channel imo and there is no karma farming here so letting the bot handle posting is fine with me.

F1 and Indycar are built into the bot already. The earliest build of the bot had MotoGP added in but I wasn't sure if that was going to fit in a community called "Auto Racing" so I took it back out in a later build. I'm not opposed to adding it back in but it makes me wonder if maybe a community relaunch/rename would work better at that point. Something like "Motorsports" would work better for a community that covers bikes too I think, but maybe I'm overthinking it. Anyway...

The bot is offline while I'm working on some major revisions to the way adding channels and tags is done so it's easier to expand in the future. I was hoping to have it back up this past weekend but other things came up. It should be back online soon ™️.
