And I hope it fails as miserably as Twitter is failing. I’m so tired of these companies doing the crap they’re doing simply to earn a buck from people. It’s pure greed and I hope they all go under and end up failing.

Twitter has shown that there is an audience for companies (and apparently presidents) engaging via public social media.
Corporations rely on algorithms to get attention on their eyes, and it's especially convenient to have everyone on the internet on a 'central hub', where you can make sure the most people have a chance to get hooked on what you do (this is also the case for smaller creators like digital artists)
as Twitter proves unreliable I imagine corporations as well as smaller freelancers will work to give Meta's alternative some legitimacy in the public's eyes so that they're not shit out of luck
Though Meta's bleeding money as it is, they might not be the horse worth betting on anyway.
This will be the Holy land of astroturfing.
And expect a lot of AI posts generated by meta to "prime the pump" (do you like the expression? I invented it)

What it doesn't say is that the core of the system will be to feed you ads, the right ads, for the political party that want to connect with you. You will never know whether or not the person you follow is a human, or if his followers are human. This will be an industrial secret.

Seems like a viable competitor with the instagram install base and the existing brand relationships.
I predict this being looped into the instagram app and being just as out of place as reels are … but they’re going to force influencers to use them and thereby minting its success
And I hate that, because last thing I want is Meta getting even more marketshare and online space.

There already here, in so far as they already use the same open Internet standards we do.
Metas shit might be using ActivityPub but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be “here” any more than Peertube or any other AP service is here with us.
Let’s see if Meta actually embraces the Fediverse or simply does it’s own thing on the side using the same basic underlying language.
As long as Kanye, the big-butt Kim, her sisters and other shithead people (CR7, Bieber, Georgina, etc.) are far away from my sight, I welcome Threads... with surveillance CCTV and other detectors 24/7.
