I hope more people board this bandwagon.

Its really funny looking at the list of banned books. I already own half of them, it just makes me feel like I gotta go buy the rest and complete my collection!

I have a stupid question: isn’t book banning unconstitutional? Like it violates the free speech amendment right? Not that it matters. They don’t give a fuck about the toilet paper. I mean the constitution

Books are not banned widely in the country, or (to my knowledge) in any state or municipality. All of these books may be legally sold, purchased, owned, read, given, traded, etc. anywhere in the US. These books are banned specifically from schools and libraries, and usually by a local school board or similar; meaning that the constitutional prohibition on Congress making any law abridging freedom of speech (and the similar provision in most state constitutions) doesn't apply.

Ah. Thanks for the response. That makes more sense

Yep, the ban is just a school not electing to include the book in their library. Pretty much all of the books are available in the public library that you can walk to from the school, unless they are relatively obscure or new and haven't been purchased by the public library yet.

The only book I've read in that collection is 1984, but I do own digital copies of Slaughterhouse Five and The Kite Runner. Does anyone have any recommendations from the other books?

Thanks - somehow I'd never come across that book before but it sounds great and is highly acclaimed. I'll add it to my wishlist :)
