Reddit has a storied history of famous memes. Something about the first widely shared, universally recognized meme (can of fucking beans) has made Lemmy finally feel alive to me. I couldn't put my finger on what it was missing, but now I know.

It was, for about two weeks. Also presumably before that.
The people who left immediately upon hearing about the API pricing were all like "okay, let's join this other community over here and contribute." Then the people who left after the blackouts happened were all like "I need a place to shitpost."
