An Ambassador should not be surprised about the host countries attitude to his homeland. He should be the first to know about this, and the reasons.

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 23 points 2 weeks ago

A GOOD ambassador.

However surprised can also mean aware of the situation and finds it incongruent with their beliefs. It doesn't necessarily mean lack of knowledge. The attitude to America has changed rapidly and harshly, but so has America.

[–] Toto@lemmy.world 58 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Add me to the list: go fuck yourself.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 38 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

As an American I'm with Canada on this. Also I doubt highly that it was "anti American" as much as it was "anti fascist assholes". The fascist assholes can't tell the difference.

[–] Toto@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago

As a Canadian, I am with Americans who are against this too. Stay strong.

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

...and my "go fuck yourself" too.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 5 points 2 weeks ago

And my axe!

Breaking news: Fascist fucked around and they are finding out.

Has anyone explained it to them like this:

"You know how you hate minorities, homosexuals, trans people and women? That's how normal human beings feel about you ghoulish clowns."

???

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

But see he "hates" them with a reason. Or doesnt see it as "hate". He doesnt understand why Canadians speak bad about the US when its obvious all the awful things Trump says about Canada are so he can make a better deal.

He might understand it better if you tell him to think of it more like why his kids/grandkids hate him

"Finance minister's comments about trade war don't help"

You know what else doesn't help?

A fucking pointless trade war.

[–] notsosure@sh.itjust.works 21 points 2 weeks ago

Suck it up, Hoekstra. You made your bed, so lie in it. Or even better: tell Trump he’s an anti-democratic pumpkin and quit.

[–] updn@lemmy.ca 19 points 2 weeks ago

Go back to your swamp, fuckhead

Overused perhaps, but this one really sums it up.

[–] moody@lemmings.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So unrealistic. The bow goes above the bridge, not below it.

[–] Ignot@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And it's holding it like a cello!

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 4 points 2 weeks ago

He's doing his best, okay?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

Well, reality can be disappointing for those who lost touch with the real world long ago.

No need, it's good to have a mouthpiece to the orange overlord telling him how shit his petty attempts at stirring shit are holding up.

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Do you think he is functional in any way? Is he relaying Trumps incoherent babble to Canada, or is he providing insight on Canada to Trump?

The answer to both is no. He is a failure, too stupid to realize it.

[–] spinne@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

He's successful enough at minding his keepers to be appointed ambassador. He's got all the qualifications he needs to work for the Chump administration!

[–] viking 2 points 2 weeks ago

Or too smart to bite the hand that feeds. Either way, whoever they'd send as a replacement won't be better, but possibly worse.

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I actually like that he is such a douche nozzle. He is stirring up anti-american sentiment better than any other ambassador. Keep him in his job and FUCK the USA!

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago

Lol, “fuck our trade partners” is what trump says, then “why u mad?” Is what this guy says?

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

And Canada is disappointed America fucked up so badly

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 12 points 2 weeks ago

I didn’t realize this dude was still around.

Way back when he was bbq’d for this tweet

Iranian twitter activity similar to what we did in House last year when Republicans were shut down in the House.

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

I used it too but then someone pointed out it’s not a violin. I can’t tell. It’s so tiny.

[–] Trollivier@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 weeks ago

You're not owed respect. Gotta deserve it.

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Does anyone actually believe these Fascists with their high-ground posturing anymore? Because it simply feels like shitty role-play at this point...

[–] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

We never did here in Canada, hence the anti-American sentiment this fucknut is disappointed by.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

That is because it is. Incidentally the kind of arrogant gaslighting language he uses is exactly the same language Russian ambassadors have been using since they invaded Ukraine.

There is just one rulebook for fascists, so it becomes pretty easy to predict and interpret their behaviour once you have learnt it (the rulebook being just read any part of history that involves fascists taking power in a country).

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago

I saw the interview, this fucker had the AUDACITY to chastise Canadians for 'not being passionate about america' it incompetence weren't the defining trait of USians I would think his real mission is to fan the flames.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 6 points 2 weeks ago

Aurrrrr naurrrrrrrrr

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago

Someone else pointed out that this is the exact gameplan that Putin went with regarding Ukraine and Crimea
