/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Ad Astra per aspera

Just, ya know, Star Fleet aspera

Of course by the time of that uniform red meant command not security, so she should be safely on the ship.

Or an old propaganda shot of Carol Freeman.

Undoubtedly

But "redshirts" of the TNG era are actually goldshirts 🤔

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

I always head-cannoned the reason starfleet didn't care about red (or TNG gold) shirts was because of a massive population problem on earth. Tons of of people desperate to get into a stable, "safe" job, and starfleet was better than most, despite the risks.

I also like to headcanon that the shows are recruitment and propaganda work, following Picard as the least offensive and most utopian Captain in the same way people in the US think the US is awesome and cool and "liberators" when we're very much not.

Starfleet really needs to stop associating it’s people with the unfortunate death statistic of the 2260s.

The fact that she is still alive ... bleeding, broken bones, missing teeth, in pain is a good sign

The fact that she is still alive is false advertising for what actually happens to Red Shirts

Why does she smell like liquorice?

"Join starfleet" they said. "It'll be fun" they said

The licorice bit shows up in Discovery along with the hot banana.

Edit: another crossover moment.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

That did get a chuckle from me. I’m surprised there weren’t more mentions of stuff from Lower Decks.

EDIT: The licorice and hot banana scenes are Reno centric too. Reno eats licorice as a snack and uses a hot banana as a distraction.

So that I think she is actually licorice and eat her.

Damn I love black licorice so much.
