Precisely. Everybody wants a below-minimum-wage off-the-books gardener/nanny/seasonal worker, but at the same time build a wall.

You're welcome to do the work but don't complain, don't ogle our sons or daughters, simply be invisible or else.

It's such a fucked-up situation.

Don’t forget all the corporations bringing them in so they don’t have to abide by labor law, pay slave wages, not pay benefits, not pay a living wage and or have any accountability for wage theft. Trump hires them, dole, fresh express, earthbound organic….ect you get the idea. We’re living in a house of cards and the evil always comes from the top

Maybe you can explain:

To my understanding these people are "illegals" (no documents I guess) yet somehow it is legal to employ them in a way that would be illegal if they had papers/citizenship?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Corporations use independent contractors and hiring agencies to shirk liability. At Trumps club Ivanka was directing them where to get fake social security numbers. https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/report-reveals-pipeline-of-undocumented-costa-rican-immigrants-at-trump-club-a-very-open-secret/

Easy explanation: all of their constituents are equally ~~immigrant~~ disposable, they just don't realize it until they get personally fucked by the politician they voted for.

The only "safe" people are the ones bankrolling them.

The only “safe” people are the ones bankrolling them.

They're not safe either. If their money or political charisma runs out, there isn't going to be anyone there to turn to. Look at the my pillow guy as an example.

The followers must feel humiliated by the ostentatious wealth and force of their enemies. When I was a boy I was taught to think of Englishmen as the five-meal people. They ate more frequently than the poor but sober Italians. Jews are rich and help each other through a secret web of mutual assistance. However, the followers must be convinced that they can overwhelm the enemies. Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.

Eco 's essay on Ur-Fascism is worth reading

[–] NewNewAccount@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Fear of difference. “The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is an appeal against the intruders. Thus Ur-Fascism is racist by definition.”

The enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”

Contempt for the weak. “Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology.”

Not defending the message, but there's not a single immigrant, so both can be true.

Of course it's bullshit, but this joke fails to address the real failures of the argument.

Racism is a false premise. All conclusions derived from it may be perfectly logical and absurd at the same time. This is why logic is so valued by people with dogshit views.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Oh my God that explains a lot of people that I previously considered to be intelligent

Sometimes those concerns can just be economic, both personal and on country level. Often anti-immigration has racism in it though.

It's a common pattern. Joe Biden is an evil genius out to fuck you but is also an inept sleepy old man.

[–] Shapillon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Joe Biden being an evil genius will never stop being funny x)

Immigrants aren't a monolith in good or bad. Some are collecting social benefits way above the average, some are often employed in very low paying jobs, these two have some overlap. Some are highly paid workers brought over for specific roles, earning well above the average etc.

If those complaints are considered separately as they imo should be then they are both valid concerns.

What do you mean?

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

MAGA learned this technique from previous Nazis: "The Jews are inferior in every way to us Aryan supermen. That's why they're the greatest threat we face..."

[–] Lembot_0004@discuss.online 3 points 1 week ago

Trump: There are more than 1 of them, you know. Shame on you, being more stupid than a drunkest redneck.

[–] brem@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

This is fucking RIGHTEOUS!!!!

Great meme. Simple, elegant, poignant.

Nice work, OP

Also related is Schrödinger's gangster (or gangsta if you're urban). A feral teen delinquent who only respects violence and force, and also a don of global renown who runs an international racketeering syndicate.

I believe the whole Saints Row series of games capitalizes on this dichotomy.

[–] jawa22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The welfare thing is what happens when racism and misogyny intersect. They imagine women having as many kids as possible just to get more money.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

And then they constantly cry because women don’t want to have kids in this mysoginist dystopian hellscape

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

They dropped the lazy angle long ago, doesn't jive with anyone's lived experience.
