It lets you justify anything because anyone in the "in" group (Christian, Republican, etc.) is by definition good, and has such everything they do is good. If it seems bad, there's a grand hidden plan you don't know about.

Whatever money can buy for whatever can serve money the best. Social networks are human slaughterhouses to them.
