Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I keep forgetting he's the lead in this and every time I'm reminded I get disappointed all over again.

Ah butts, I wasn’t aware of the allegations. For anyone else who doesn’t know: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2025/jun/07/jared-leto-accused-sexual-impropriety

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 42 points 1 day ago

This post is how I found out. Ugh

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 41 points 1 day ago

Best part is when he said it's Troning time and Troned all over the place.

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 49 points 1 day ago

...and yet they STILL keep casting this creep in the lead, despite several notorious box-office flops and a murky offscreen reputation.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 58 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Oh no he's the lead!?

Welp, guess I'm not seeing it. That's too bad

Exactly. I was kind of happy there's another Tron movie. But when I saw Leto's in it, I lost all interest.

I really liked the general idea of this Tron movie. I love the original and enjoy the sequel a lot.

Seeing him as the lead destroyed any interest I have in this.

Every time Leto is cast in a movie it feels like a prank, like "here's a legacy sequel and it's actually good?! Don't worry we cast Leto as a main character lmao" has happened a few times now.

blade runner 2049. to be fair, it was before the sexual assault allegations, but still.

He has never had a role that fit him better tbh. He'd already been method acting as a creepy eccentric unlikable weirdo for most of his life!

I was really looking forward to this movie for a couple years because I love the aesthetic of Legacy, just wanted to take that environment and actually give it a good story. Unfortunately, everything I hear about it makes me exponentially less interested.

Casting Leto as the lead is fucking stupid and I don't want to support studios that ignore how much of a creep he is. Also, instead of getting Daft Punk for the score/audio design, we get Nine Inch Nails (who I don't have anything against, but don't come close to the Daft Punk vibes at all). Lastly, the trailer makes it look like almost all of the film will be taking place in the human world and not the grid, so what's the point?

[–] ApollosArrow@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Isn’t Daft Punk retired?

[–] mr_account@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

Yes, but it's frustrating that they aren't even going for that same kind of synth/techno vibe in this one

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 24 points 1 day ago

She got morbed

[–] dumbass@aussie.zone 34 points 1 day ago

Well, none that aren't in his weird sex cult.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 31 points 1 day ago

He's standing on her ... you just can't see her

[–] Horsecook@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The poster has Jeff Bridges standing nearby in a dress. Also, the disc is pink and triangular now. I think the poster is calling Leto a fag?

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

"Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!"

(At one point that last word of yours was common slang for cigarettes in some countries. Dunno about now.)

[–] grue@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Somehow I'd forgotten about that line - thanks for the laugh!
