Well, the Blue Jays didn't sweep last night. It was a pretty disappointing game all around other than the 6 runs scored: many fielding misplays, Shane didn't have it and couldn't put guys away up 6-1 in the 3rd, and our bullpen got hit hard too.

Jays enter tonight's game up 2-1 in the series. They need 1 more win to advance, while the Yankees need two wins to advance.

How are you feeling? What's your prediction on the series at this point? How do you think the Jays will deploy their pitching? Will we see either Gausman or Yesavage tonight on reduced rest?

You aren't going to see Gausman or Yesavage, you are going to see a bullpen game tonight.

I don't think it was so much the bullpen that lost them the game last night, as it was the several fielding misplays that did them in. It looked like there was some pretty weird winds going on there last night, I don't think that was helping anything. Also if you thought they were going to go into New York and do what they did on the weekend, you were kidding yourself.

I think we are in for a barn burner of a game tonight. I'm still pretty confident about our prospects, I think it's going to be done tonight, but I'm betting on it being a close game for the large part. At the same time, this also might be where the bullpen tear through on the weekend rears it's ugly head for the Yankees.

grindinggears@lemmy.ca I'm going to agree with you because I like your conclusion!

No, but seriously, I'm shocked they didn't shell the Yankees bullpen last night. I don't think they'll be able to hold back the Jay's bats tonight. But the team won the division on its defense, and that has to be present for them to get through the series. If that falters, we're going back to the SkyDome.

i mean, it looked like it was heading that way in the 3rd inning...

and then the fielding errors. schenider should have called barger off on that fly ball.... he had a way better view and i'm pretty sure the outfielder takes precedence in those situations

yesavage is available from the pen.... but buck doesnt think we'll see him

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

I hope we see better fielding in tonight's lineup. No Tony. (Sorry, Tony). The defence was sooo bad last night compared to the first two games

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

Oh shit. Gausman walking to the pen...

Everything is on the table!!

WOOOOOOO HOOOOO!!! Gj boys!!!!!

Goodnight folks!

So, I'm a filthy casual (this was the first game I've watched the entirety of on tv) so while I was happy about the win, I kept grinning when I thought about how stoked you must be.

Anyway, hope you're still enjoying that "we won!" Post glow!

bummed about no schneider. he's been hitting consistently, and running up pitch counts.

schlittler is a young rookie.... hopefully we keep getting early runs and shake the kid up... make him schlit the bed a little

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

make him schlit the bed a little

Nice. I agree with you about no Davis Schneider. And Anthony Santander over Davis Schneider?! Idk, but hopefully it works out

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ok, my friend pointed out that santander is a switch hitter, so he has that going for him

Also made that fly ball catch, so good start!

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

He's had some good PAs where he's seen a lot of pitches too

[–] GrindingGears@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

Well that one went pretty much as I expected! LETS GOO!! I keep having flashbacks to the 90s, and that little 10 year old boy inside me is SO fired up

I'd be pretty excited for a Jays Tigers series next.

Wow... is every pitcher going to be on short leash??

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 months ago

While the game is close, I think so

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

hey look some decent fielding on that dp

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Vladdy's having a series 😎

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

That was a terrifying inning!

Not great for the heart but damn, this is such a tense and exciting game!

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I start having anxiety since first inning of every game...

Honestly, i dont watch the jays throughout the regular seasonr because its bad for my health lol

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 4 points 2 months ago

Well, hopefully that'll make it that much more awesome when they win the whole thing?

[–] GrindingGears@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Yeah those blood pressure pills ain't doing shit tonight

[–] Nevrome@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

If we ever get a bigger cushion in tonight's game, yes. Give me a Yesavage on a 1 or 2 inning outing. Keep him somewhat ready considering the Tigers forced a game 5 against the Mariners so we could get an additional day off.

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

These guys make every high flyball so dramatic......

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

True. GimΓ©nez gives me some reassurance though

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Yes, Ser!!! Let's keep the momentum of that clean inning going with some RUNS

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Another leadoff hit! Can we squeak out 1 run? :P

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Crooked #s look good on the top of the scoreboard 😎

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Would be HUGE if Lauer could post a few zeroes on the scoreboard 😍

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Jays on the corners, no out, top of the order up. LFG Jays!!!

[–] streetfestival@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Runs are coming slowly so far tonight - unlike the other games of this series. It's on both sides though. Hopefully the Jays can stay head or, even better, increase the lead. Our RISP has been trending downward across games of the series so far

[–] 9488fcea02a9@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

Just need to keep up solid D.....

Keep hitting
