The widely held assumption that Israel will actually abide by this ceasefire has me dumbfounded.

It is like when someone says "oh no, my dog doesn't bite" and yet the dog is clearly utterly out of control.

Didnt they already break the ceasefire today?

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath. Maybe they will leave Gaza alone for a bit and focus on the west Bank?

The focus was always about the west bank that's why zionists keep calling it judea and sumeria. Even if there is a thriving gaza it would be to not allow any resistance coming from gaza in support of westbankers

judea and sumeria

Samaria, as in "the good Samaritan".

Sumeria, is a different place. :)

By genocide they mean the Genocide©, a fun and engaging news story that got a bunch of people to care about something we've been noticing for years.

Not to be confused with the genocide, the reality that has been occurring for decades.

Yikes, let's not trivialize the brutality of the last 2 years, even in the context of the decades of occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing.

The author of the piece is Diana Buttu, "a Palestinian-Canadian lawyer and a former spokesperson for the Palestine Liberation Organization. Best known for her work as a legal adviser and a participant in peace negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian organizations, she has since been associated with Stanford University, Harvard University, and the Institute for Middle East Understanding (IMEU)." [src] So, I dunno man, maybe she gets to use words with thoughtful intent.
