Haven't tried it myself, but heard from 2 other people who were excited about this game and tried it out. Unfortunately they both said they didn't like it. They said it was pretty boring and were disappointed with the lack of voice acting. They said it looked nice, but the performance was terrible on the higher settings even with a pretty good computer. These people don't know each other and said pretty much the same thing independently, so now I'm worried. I'm going to try it this weekend and will keep my hopes up till then.
Risa: Your Home Away from Spacedock
Welcome to Risa
All the pleasure of shore leave, none of the holodeck glitches.
Rule 1 — Be Civil, Not Klingon
This is a vacation planet, not the neutral zone.
- No harassment, brigading, or trolling
- No bigotry
- Keep the banter playful, not hostile
Rule 2 — No Prohibited Cargo
Some things aren’t welcome aboard.
- No spam or scams
- No porn or sexually explicit content
- No illegal content
- NSFW memes must be properly tagged
Rule 3 — Keep It Trek
Posts should be Star Trek memes or Trek-adjacent humor.
- Crossovers are fine
- Low-effort “unrelated” memes may be spaced out the nearest airlock
Rule 4 — Gatekeeping Belongs in a Black Hole
You’re welcome to have your own opinions on what counts as “real” Star Trek but forcing your view on others or pretending it’s the only valid one? That’s not the Starfleet way.
Everyone’s Trek is valid, from TOS purists to Lower Decks shitposters, and you don't get to dictate what is real or not for everyone.
If you see a post that violates the rules, or that doesn't inspire Jamaharon, report it so the mods can handle it.
Otherwise grab a horga’hn, order a Risan Mai Tai, and enjoy your shore leave.
I have a mediocre computer. My performance was running it on Epic with not even an issue. The game is surprisingly well optimized or at least I thought it was considering it ran well for me.
Do agree with the lack of voice acting. However, I thought the game was great. It's not as complex as I was expecting it to be, but it's still fun. It's basically the Hella Carrier room management system from XCOM 2 plus stellaris style story events that link together to make a long cohesive narrative with each story event also impacting your resources and crew complement. There isn't much more than that though. A very basic-away team system that is basically lifted directly out of Star Trek timelines.
How good the game is depends on the price. If this is going to be a full price game, like everything else, then no, this is absolute trash. If this is going to be like 30 bucks, then it's great.
Can you promote Ensign Kim?
Can you blow Neelix out of an airlock?
CAN you? You have to in order to complete the tutorial!
