In my view, this is an unpopular opinion, so you deserve an upvote! I do disagree with you though, not everything should be controlled.
Unpopular Opinion
Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!
How voting works:
Vote the opposite of the norm.
If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.
Guidelines:
Tag your post, if possible (not required)
- If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
- If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].
Rules:
1. NO POLITICS
Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.
2. Be civil.
Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...
Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.
5. No trolling.
This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.
6. Defend your opinion
This is a bit of a mix of rules 4 and 5 to help foster higher quality posts. You are expected to defend your unpopular opinion in the post body. We don't expect a whole manifesto (please, no manifestos), but you should at least provide some details as to why you hold the position you do.
Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

STOP BRINGING YOUR PETS TO THE GROCERY STORE. No, I'm not talking about the genuine service animals, I'm talking about the shitzu who piddled in produce, or the rat dog who's barking at an actual service animal, I don't care if you call it an emotional support animal it's not trained and it doesn't belong near food you selfish fuckwits.
it's a fucking grocery store for people, not petsmart or home depot.
Let’s take that to the proper conclusion.
STOP BRINGING YOUR PETS ANYWHERE!! LEAVE THEM AT HOME!
is this hyperbole?
no. take your pets places. love taking my dogs to the dog park, to run errands, they can 'guard the car' while I'm grabbing shit.
you don't need your pets at the grocery store. it's food ffs...
if you're being hyperbolic, pfft, ok whatever. If you're being serious, well, pfft, sorry you don't like pets.
No I am not. The dog park is for dogs outside of that leave them at home.
WTF are you doing leaving your dog your car, That is terrible. Do you want to kill it.
I love pets, just not yours.
ah, ok. so uh, eat shit, die, and fuck off.
My family owned a motel, and dealing with emotional support animals was a nightmare. They make the system difficult for people that actually had service animals.
Also people with ADA requirements get the short end of a stick. A predatory lawyer sued us, for minor violations. Fair, we fixed the issues. But as a mom and pops business that is barely making it by, this makes it harder for us to say we have vacancy when I see you have a wheelchair or an animal.
Sorry, I need food on my table too. I'm not rich. I now work in corporate America, paycheck to paycheck. I'm glad those lawyers didn't ruin us.
PS, that lawyer goes to businesses looking for violations. Then his friend visits the business and files the lawsuit. I hope they both have the worst luck in their lives.
this is why we can't have nice things. there's always an asshole out there looking for anyone with an ounce of compassion that they can take advantage of.
Add children to that and I'm with you.
There is nothing more totalitarian in existence than government regulating people's reproduction. It's for people who see abortion bans and think: this is great, but how can we extend the same principals and logic to men?
@seathru@lemmy.sdf.org @yesman@lemmy.world
Ususally, totalitarian regimes wont only punish parents for violation of the policy, but also the children. I was the second child born in Mainland China during the one child policy, and they denied legal documents and essentially tried to denied my existence for as long as possible (practically treating me like a "bastard child", as if I were born out of wedlock or something). They demanded my parents to pay a massive amount of money (aka: a "fine") so I could have a legal identity. My mother also got forcibly sterilized after that.

Without legal documents, you basically are like an illegal immigrant in your own country.
Its horrible. Both Forced Birth and Forced Abortion policies are two sides of the same coin, government overreach where there shouldn't be.
Yeah, I guess it's one of those things like communism. Great on paper but humans can't be trusted to admin it.
and people shouldn’t be able to own more than three pets max.
So much for couples with pre existing cats.
