What a weird movie to bring back to theaters. It's not a bad movie but Im not going to the theater to watch wedding crashers..

Seriously!! Absolutely bizarre.

I remember when they brought Star Wars back in the 1990s and it was a huge deal.

Now they will bring pretty much anything back. Yeesh.

So it's just the same poster, but with "20th anniversary" on it

Shame that Vince Vaughn is MAGA now

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh, god, no.

I really enjoy his work.

Thanks for the link, but I will not watch it.

To paraphrase "Dune," you don't have to climb to the top of a mountain to know that it's a mountain. You just go high enough to make sure.

Well. Shit.

I guess if you’re really good at playing unlikeable characters…

I just watched Mr & Mrs Smith again last week as my wife had never seen it, and while on the whole it still holds up as a fun ride, Vince Vaughn definitely stuck out. He basically played his character from Swingers, and I'm questioning now as an adult how I thought this was "charming" in the 90s/00s. From a modern perspective his persona was pretty creepy.

Thank god, I thought they we're doing a sequel.

Too much risk, that's why they just rerelease old films now.

Same has been happening with music for a good while...why pay a band and for studio time, production costs, etc when you can just put something that already exists in a film or on the radio and people will talk about "this cool old song"?

Worked both times on me with the Peacemaker Intro music

Are they testing the waters with this, hoping they can re-release more in the future? Like record distributors that exclusively re-release cheap old music to make a dollar.

“How much money can we make by just re-releasing crap people kinda liked?”

Wedding Crashers is a cheap one that wouldn’t be overwhelmingly embarrassing if the experiment failed.

There absolutely are movies I would go to see in theaters again.

Wedding crashers isn't even on the list.

Wedding crashers isn't even on the list of movies I would watch this month if I had no internet access and only 3 other dvds.

[–] cenzorrll@piefed.ca 4 points 3 weeks ago

It's one of those movies that you never need to see again. You either saw it in theaters once, or rented it from Blockbuster or Hollywood video. Maybe you had that one friend that got it for $5 at a second hand store that wishes they grabbed The Matrix instead.

[–] IWW4@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

No kidding. I didn’t see Wedding Crashers in the theater when it was first released. No way in hell I would do it now.

  • Sequels/Prequels
  • Reboots
  • Remasters
  • Re-releases <- we are here

Frankly, I don’t know how much lower we can go
