Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Better provocative headlines:

"Trump approval still at 39% despite months of controversies"

"39% of US citizens unaware of fall of nation"

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 34 points 2 days ago

39% Nazis willing to go down with the ship just to have their hate validated. Not a very catchy headline, I'll admit.

[–] mkwt@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nixon was at 31% when he resigned. Dubya also hit the low thirties, but he didn't resign.

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nixon didnt have the right wing propganda juggernaut Trump does.

Dubya i think only fell that low when the floor fell out of the housing? Market or the dotcom bubble? Fuck i dont remember but it was in like 07-08 so doubtful he would have resigned

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I think Katrina didn't help W. Neither did seeing the obvious failure of the second invasion of Iraq. I think the economy doing a swan dive was the last straw.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

These polls measure likely voters not citizens

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So 40% of the politically active people are Nazis...

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

Something like that yes

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 122 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Oh what, the same 40% approve as always?

Checks article

Yeah 39%, who could’ve guessed.

[–] SGGeorwell@lemmy.world 69 points 2 days ago

The same horrid 40% the actual Nazis enjoyed, as well.

[–] jacksilver@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

It really never changes does it.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago

How do you verify those numbers? Trust me bro?

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

These articles are nothing but copium bait for the left.

[–] JoshuaBrusque@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Center, not left.

[–] PancakesCantKillMe@lemmy.world 78 points 2 days ago (6 children)

Sorry? How is he being punished? How is this "devastating" to him? Fascists don't really give a whit about approval ratings.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

He’s still above water with the base, which means the GOP Congress is still too afraid to break rank.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Right??? Call me when there are real tangable punishing consequences. As is? He'll blow it off and shrug.

[–] TheMinister@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Like able-to-be-powdered-and-drunk-in-space?

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

He was SLAMMED with EXPLOSIVE and DEVASTATING ratings that DESTROYED his ABYSMAL approval!

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

No no no. Don't you see. Fascists can only forcibly take over if they would have won the election anyway. We are saved!

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago

It’s called cope.

[–] canofcam@lemmy.world 58 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Headlines always say, "Devastating blow for trump!"

And yet he and his administration continue to destroy the world like nothing happened.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 days ago

Polls only matter for elections. He doesn't give a shit. If in doubt watch that AI video he posted with him wearing a crown shitting on Americans.

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 7 points 2 days ago

Doesn’t matter to him. We have no real way to remove him from office.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

More like devastating blow for everyone BUT Trump.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Hyperbole for engagement, as per usual.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Saved you a click:

The latest YouGov/Economist survey shows that 57 percent disapprove of Trump’s job performance as president, compared to just 39 percent who approve.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He’s devastated right now.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

He does actually care about that shit. But blames everyone else or fake news

[–] nimble@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 2 days ago

He can do whatever the fuck he wants and only drops another 1%? Oh yeah, that's devastating. Brutal even.

[–] xyzzy@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago

I'll continue to down vote every slop article like this unless it drops by like 10 points

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When does that do anything to his power and influence?

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

When the other psychopaths smell blood.

[–] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hit him with something else

[–] linuxfiend@fedia.io 3 points 2 days ago

I have a pile of bricks. Mentioning this for no reason in particular.

[–] Kronusdark@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

If there are no consequences, I don’t see how this is devastating. It’s just another day in the dumbest timeline.

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

He'll just say it's fake like he's done countless times before.

[–] MisterNeon@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I'm worried that if Republicans don't think they can win the next election they'll enact plans to completely undermine the next election. If they think they had a shot then maybe they wouldn't take the risk/effort, now they'll be less hesitant.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah seriously, I know the corporate news sewers aren’t leading with it, but they’ve been crooking all the -eds around elections for years and it git exponentially worse this last year.

[–] dcpDarkMatter@kbin.earth 10 points 2 days ago

"If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy." --David Frum

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago

Was this a 2 x 4 with "All-time low approval ratings" written on it in sharpie? No? Then shut the fuck up. He's happier than a pig in shit while the rest of us contemplate what our lives have become under our corporate overlords.

[–] seeking_perhaps@mander.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

So, um Uh, my, uh, my current mental health is, is rapidly approaching, um, an ATL Which is, um, that's an all-time low Not, not Atlanta

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social -3 points 2 days ago (1 children)
