What is Inktober?

Inktober is an annual month-long event when a prompt word will be posted for each day of October.

What is Inktober 52?

Inktober 52 is what happens during the months that aren't October. A new prompt will be posted once a week (typically Thursdays.)

How do I join in?

Simply draw by hand something based on or inspired by the prompt word. It can be inked traditionally (on paper,) or with a digital "ink" brush. The drawing can be anything from a simple doodle to an elaborate illustration. The color of the ink is negotiable.

Rules

  1. Be kind. Constructive criticism at most, if requested. We welcome artists of all skill levels and varying levels of free time to commit. This community is meant to encourage people to create art.

  2. No AI-Generated work The marks in your work must be physically drawn by (your) hand.

  3. Submissions must meet the theme of this community Your work must be based on the given prompt. Late work based on expired prompts are still eligible for submission.

From Inktober.com:
Jake Parker created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.

I did it! Thanks everyone for the encouragement along the way. Especially to ink@sh.itjust.works our host, for being both incredibly talented and unfailingly generous with feedback.

Woohoo! You did it! It really is fitting that the last prompt of the month is "award" because you certainly deserve it, not just for your creativity but for your diligence and persistence as well. I hope you had as much fun drawing and participating as I did seeing all the ways in which you tackled the prompts each day.

Thank you for participating, and thank you for being you - this little community of ours is all the richer for your presence here. :)
