California surgeon Matthew Nykiel estimated the 2025 cost in U.S. dollars to be approximately $90,000 along with upkeep costs of $2,500 per year.

Wait. This shit has an upkeep cost too??

Makes sense, the matrix to which the artifice is applied continues to deteriorate.

Once you get plastic surgery, you have to keep getting plastic surgery. It's a forever and ever thing. Parts of it stay in your body/skin forever and permanently alter the way you look. You only become more and more grotesque.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sometimes, not others. Getting loose skin from weight loss removed will often go fine as will other stuff like bone shaving. It's when you get to implanting or fighting aging that you enter a permanent battle.

[–] CuddlyCassowary@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And while that’s true it’s an ongoing battle, it’s not simply because of cosmetic procedures, it’s also because of the steady march of the aging process people are fighting against.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah that's a battle you really need to be careful about how you fight because it turns ugly fast if you use certain weapons in it. You won't look young forever, but you can choose to age gracefully. Grow some laugh lines. Exercise in moderation (mostly cardio). Use sunscreen. And when your face starts to sag from age, embrace your crone era and start baking cookies for your loved ones

[–] CuddlyCassowary@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Well put. It’s a delicate balance between “aging gracefully,” and “yikes!”

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago

Are there examples of people stopping plastic surgery? Like if this is an addict type thing and you need to keep it up or else it looks worse.....what is worse exactly?

Because this reminds me of the scary sunken in faces I see 'christians' from the 700 club that I see around me. They all have this 'my soul is wrong" look to their face. I'm not even religious but it seems evil.

plus botox permanently/chronically atrophies the muscles, so you have to keep taking it, or it will just look like south parks noem mask.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

I like me some body horror!

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The lip fillers d r i f t

Want to hear the worst part? It doesn’t leave your face/body when it drifts away from your lips

[–] metallic_substance@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] klemptor@startrek.website 22 points 1 month ago

Yeah, filler migration causes a weird shelf:

Doesn’t it just kind of sink down into their chin?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 11 points 1 month ago (4 children)

you have to because botox wears off, and your facial muscles atrophy from lack of use, so you have to take more, or if you age too much the cosmetics looks wierd and you have do something again. theres also blepharoplasty, (eyelids lifting), or stretching your skin somehow. the ISAIP Mac actor went all in on this, plus his wife, totally unrecognizable now from pre-season 12.

[–] Stamau123@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah Mac has had way WAY too much work done imo

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

like the recent awards show he and katlyn did, it was so cringe, even the isaip sub fans were so shocked by thier appearance, they said just grow old, and stop trying to look 20years younger. and then we also discussing that mac was thirsty to stay hollywoods inner circle, because anyone younger than a milenneals do not know who he is and teaming up with questionable characthers, like ryan reynolds, and the football star retiree.

Mac looks like he used the same machine the son'a from star trek insurrection to stretch thier faces. i think kaitlyn overdid her surgeries.

[–] DrSoap@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yea it makes me sad to look at them. I had a trigeminal nerve irritation for a year and my face bothered me so much. It messed me up so bad over some invisible tingling...They must always have their face feel off. Every time they look in the mirror its a reminder that they've lost their sense of identity.

If that happened to me, I would need therapy to get over the loss of my face.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

i had temporary trigeminal neuralgia from a broken/infected tooth, that was the most painful thing felt like 2 weeks straight til i got my root canal. sometimes if get ulcers in teh back of my mouth that are bad enough it causes similar but less severe pain.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

and what harm could there be from injecting a potent neurotoxin into your head?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago

the purified form is usually safer, than the botulinum toxin from the clostridium bacterium which is much more dangerous. but the paralysis is whats appeals to people, make your face into a frozen countertop.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 month ago

I think it can cure certain types of really bad headaches too? Weird stuff.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

God damn. You'd think the man who threw it all in for fat mac would have better esteem

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

i think the season 13e where he used PEDs to get really buff, was telling lol. no way a 45yo man can look like a bodybuilder, and not be on peds. plus he was trying to pussyfooting(being vague or evasive) around why he was using roids too, in all those interviews, just be honest lol.

mac was more real in the earlier seasons, post-13 hes fake as hell, fans said the cast literally became what they joked about.

[–] if_only@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's a form of conspicuous consumption. The fact that it's obvious they've been altered is intentional.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 month ago

it also wears off over time, so you would need upkeep procedures like botox regularly.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

OTA upgrades.

[–] hanrahan@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago

Wait. This shit has an upkeep cost too??

Yeah, South Park did a documentary on it recently :)

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 63 points 1 month ago (1 children)

While I think it’s an awful style choice, I am 100% in favor of MAGAts being visibly identifiable from a distance.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We could just carve swastikas into their foreheads.

[–] Geodad@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Naw, brand them with a hot iron, just like cattle.

[–] TheAsianDonKnots@lemmy.zip 33 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ha! Matt Gaetz is the only guy on the list. Trying to look all pretty for Boss Hog.

“Commentators and surgeons have characterized the look as engineered, overdone, sometimes tacky, and have linked it to the aesthetics and performative aspects of Trump-era politics.”

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Oh god. Say "Trump-era" again, like in past-tense.

[–] notsosure@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] dellish@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

You can't make it any less ugly either, apparently.

[–] VaalaVasaVarde@sopuli.xyz 17 points 1 month ago

Remember to fasten your mar-a-lago face

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Maybe I'm not so ugly.

[–] MirthfulAlembic@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I had to make a flight connection in Florida recently. It's insane how many people with this there are now.

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

I live in Tampa and no plastic surgery, natural curly hair worn curly.

My sister lives in Fort Lauderdale. Breast implants, long blonde hair always blown out straight, botox.

It really varies around here honestly. Same divide city to suburbs - my oldest did gymnastics at the city gym, moms looked normal; she switched to diving for high school, that's only available out in the suburbs. You would not believe how many of those moms were blonde, and ironed hair fighting the humidity.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 month ago

niptuck was right when the show was on and its based in florida.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I wouldn't have included Ivanka in the list of people with mar-a-lago face.

Yes, she's clearly had work done, but she's not misshapen like Loomer or Noem.

Hell, compared to them, her work is positively normal.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Give it a few more years. She's still relatively young and under no stress whatsoever.

[–] Beetschnapps@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

Good for you
