I believe corvée was a sort of public service everybody had to do, not admin. No idea what ilku-duty is tho

Ilku means basically the same as corvée, I think the translater has thrown corvée in there as an explanation of ilku, so means doing feudal labour service. So they are complaining that the mandatory labour service is beneath them, with the excuse that it interferes with their more cushy jobs of stargazing and teaching.
